Chapter Ten -- Dr. Ellis, your husband is here.
"I see, do I need to apologize to you for wasting my life, Poppy?" He said and she scoffed "Go screw yourself." He was such an asshole.
"What is the evidence of a life fulfilled?" He asked after moments of silence and she frowned.
"You believe I wasted my life, so I ask, what does it mean to have a fulfilled life? Do you have a fulfilled life? A good career, a fiancee, a white picket fence, a good family, are these the things that make a fulfilled life?" He asked and she flushed, because she had a career that was on the path of being phenomenal, a fiance, a home, good family, but did that mean that she lived a fulfilled life?
She shook her head and tried not to think about it "We were talking about Absurdism and Nihilism, you claimed existentialism as your philosophy." "And, you asked if it justified murder." He completed and she nodded, and waited.
"It does not justify murder, of course, and definitely not the murder of a fifty two people." He started and she froze, before she could spoke, the door was pushed open, Agent Reed and Agent Patel rushed in, they heard what he said, too.
"You said fifty two people, Pierce." She whispered and he raised an eyebrow, nonchalantly "Did I? Must be a slip of tongue then."
"You killed Fifty two people? Where are the bodied of the other six people?" Agent Patel demanded and Markovic kept his gaze steady on Poppy, he was having the time of his life, he enjoyed watching the wheels of her mind turn as she tried to make sense of it, of him.
"A wild goose chase." Poppy stated and he smirked "Perhaps. Perhaps, not."
"You son of a b -- " Ryan started to say and Poppy cut him off "Can you see yourself out, Agent Reed, you, too, Agent Patel, and try not to cut through my interview unless it is for something absolutely important." She told them, Reed flushed and walked out, so did Patel, and Poppy wondered what Pierce's endgame was, what was he trying to do?
__
"I wonder why you keep trying to change the topic. I would like us to close the chapter of Philosophies before moving on to something else." She pointed out and Markovic leaned back, amused, he knew the next words were going to undo her, and he was ready to watch the blush spread to the back of her neck. One day, he would figure out if the blush spread to chest.
"Ever heard of Hedonism?" He asked and Poppy froze "Wh -- what?"
"Hedonism, Poppy. Ever heard of it?" He smirked and she flushed, he watched as it spread to the back of her neck and disappeared under her shirt. Poppy was a beautiful woman, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, she had dark brown hair, green eyes, and a full chest. She was wearing a black shirt and brown slacks today and he loved the way the attire hugged her body.
"You look really good today, Poppy." He declared and she froze and looked at him, eyes wide and he grinned, a full grin, unable to help himself. She looked like a deer caught in the headlight and he enjoyed her misery. One day, he would make her bleed, and lick off the blood, then make her kiss it off his tongue, but for now, he would settle for making her blush.
"I can leave, and never return." Poppy said, and his grin fell off as he stared at her in surprise, did - did she just say that? Did she realize what she just said?
"Don't poke the bear, Poppy." He warned her, sternly and she nodded, effectively changing the topic "I am aware of Hedonism means, but care to explain?"
"Hedonism is the ethical theory that pleasure, in the sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life." He explained and she nodded "It is the prioritization of pleasure in one's lifestyle, actions or thoughts."
"Sex." He stated and on cue, she flushed hard, and he bit down a grin, she was so responsive, he wondered how she would feel under him, squirming and willing.
"Hedonism is mostly and usually attributed to sex, because people believe sex is the only way to get pleasure, but life is vast, and there are various means of attaining pleasure, sex is one way, drugs is another, music is also a way, and so is reading. Hedonism is the belief that pleasure or the absence of pain is the most important principle in determining the morality of a potential course of action. What do you find pleasure in, Poppy?" He tilted his head and she exhaled, wondering is she should draw a line in the sand, he was being inappropriate.
"No comment." She stated, rolling her eyes at him, and he continued "We all perform hedonism in our everyday life, it is basically our pursuit for pleasure, and human can't leave without our pleasure, we would all go insane." He stated and she frowned "Murder is pleasure?"
"Well, I definitely have not screwed a woman, using the blood of the person I just murdered as a lubricant, but I just might." He shrugged and she stared at him, shocked by his vulgarity, he was the worst, she noticed the way he said 'I just might' which allures to the freedom to do as he pleases, which is odd, because he was never leaving the prison.
She was about to speak when the door opened and Agent Reed walked in "Dr. Ellis, your husband is here." He said and she froze "What?"
"Your husband is here." He repeated, then gestured to Markovic "Round off, and you can continue later." Then, he walked out and Poppy was still in shocked, why was David here? Why was he introducing himself as her husband?
She looked at Markovic and was shocked to see he had a very unpleasant expression on his face, she cleared her throat "Thank you for your time."
