Chapter 31

Raymond's POV

“Since when is a law student allowed to defend one in court? I never knew that the law court was this loose, letting a kid like you stand before men of caliber like me?” I asked, sizing him, my two hands in my pocket as I stood before him.

He let out a soft chuckle at my words, then with his eyes sweeping at me, he answered, “I'm not the one that is your greatest enemy, but overconfidence, Sir. But why is it that despite being this confident about your caliber and what not, you are still feeling insecure?”

“If not, why would you bother coming to bicker words with someone you consider a kid? You should have just stayed put, maintaining your cool, knowing what you carry, but you know, you can't act what you're not. The less there is inside, the louder it seems outside.” He sharply retorted, his words severally tampering with my ego.

“Now, if you may excuse me!” He added, giving me a light bow as he took a step away from me, but then I dragged him back.
