My Rooftop Escape

Kikidori and Haruna sat at the edge of the school rooftop, their legs dangling over the side. The wind was crisp, brushing against their faces as they looked out over the campus below.

Skipping class wasn't something Kikidori did often, but today? Yeah, today was one of those fuck it days. Haruna had suggested it first, of course—she hated boring classes. And honestly? He didn't feel like sitting through another mindless lecture either.

So here they were.

The rooftop was quiet, just the occasional sound of birds flying by or the distant chatter of students below. Neither of them spoke for a while, just sitting in comfortable silence.

Then, at the same time, they glanced at each other.

Just a split second.

A brief, quiet moment.

And then—

Haruna suddenly smirked. "Kiki."

Kikidori raised an eyebrow. "What?"

She leaned in a little, her tail swaying. "What if I just… pushed you off?"

He scoffed. "I'd drag you down with me, dumbass."

Haruna giggled. "Fair. But hypothetically—"

"No."

She laughed harder, nudging his arm. "You're so fun to mess with."

Kikidori rolled his eyes, exhaling. "You really are a little gremlin, you know that?"

She flicked her ears playfully. "And yet, you love having me around."

He didn't respond, just staring out at the sky.

Haruna tilted her head. "Oi. Kiki."

He hummed. "Hmm?"

She rested her chin on her knees. "If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be?"

Kikidori thought about it for a moment. "Anywhere but class."

She snorted. "Okay, obviously, but like… anywhere anywhere."

He looked up at the sky. "Somewhere quiet. Where nobody bothers me. Maybe a place with a nice breeze. No dumbasses to deal with. Just… peaceful."

Haruna's tail flicked. "That's kinda boring."

"That's the point."

She giggled, then stretched her arms above her head. "I wanna go to a cat café."

Kikidori gave her a flat look. "You are a cat."

"Exactly! It'd be like visiting my people."

He shook his head. "You're ridiculous."

She smirked. "And yet—"

"—I love having you around. Yeah, yeah. I got it."

Haruna beamed, her ears perking up. "Damn right."

Kikidori sighed, but deep down, he was kind of glad they skipped.

Just sitting here, doing nothing, talking about stupid things…

Yeah. He wouldn't trade this for anything.
