Chapter 13: U to the A

Yuki sat by the doorstep as he adjusted his shoes.

His mother and father stood behind him, both in their own thoughts.

Natsumi was nervous, rubbing her hands together. Today was the UA Entrance Exam! She was worried about her son just as any mother should, especially on a test day!

Would he be able to pass? What if he fails? Wait... Natsumi looked at her son's backpack, did he bring a paper and pencil for the writing section? Should she check his bag? Did he bring all of his supplies?!

While she was contemplating, Yuki's father, Tadashi, was leaning against the wall with confidence.

He knew his son very well, as a father, he can definitely say with confidence that his son will be successful in this entrance exam!

"U-Um. Yuki." Natsumi started. "Do you have everything?"

"Yeah, everything's in my bag, I put it in last night." Yuki said with a cheery whistle.

Natsumi's eye twitched. Why are you so calm? This entrance exam will decide your future! Be more serious!

"And also," Natsumi, knowing her son's attitude, spoke in a stern voice. "Please, PLEASE, just follow the rules the people at UA set out. I don't want to hear that you were kicked out for not following directions..."

At this, Yuki glanced over his shoulder, a blue scarf wrapped around his neck like a snake. "Rules?"

And then, he smirked. "Nah." he stood up, smoothing out his jacket and pulled his collar with sheer confidence. "I'mma do my own thing..."

He sauntered out, leaving the door open half way as his parents stared at his back.

Tadashi and Natsumi just kept staring.

"W-Was that a reference to something?" Natsumi asked her husband.

Tadashi stroked his awesome mustache. "I... honestly don't know. Our son likes to say things he saw online, but I'm not sure what he's referencing..."

Thinking, Tadashi ran to the door and screamed. "Son, was that a reference to something?! Was it a movie , or a novel?!"

Close to his house, hearing this, Yuki almost stumbled to the ground. He turned back with an annoyed expression.

Damn, there was no Spider-Man in this universe, so nobody knows the reference.

Yuki huffed, and turned.

He stared at the open blue sky with a twinkle in his eyes. "Welp." he stretched. "Time to get started."

Tadashi's voice came again. "Well, is it?!"

Yuki screamed without looking back. "Go back inside the house, Dad!" and then went on his way.

...o0o...

Himiko trailed right behind Mechamaru, her fingers plucking nervously at her skirt.

The UA Entrance Exam, today was finally the day, not only that, but the others were going there too.

Her friends were going! Wait, friends? Yes, she has friends!

The cool Yuki, the cutie patootie Momo, roundy Tsubasa, long finger Kirito, and the embodiment of anger, Katsuki, himself!

... Seriously, she never met anyone so aggressive in her life. Katsuki makes her own parents seem gentle, like the most caring towards her!

Himiko shook her head with a smile. She pumped her fists up with fire in her eyes. She and Mechamaru, the two will surely pass the exam and become students at UA, the #1 ranked High School for Heroes!

Still worried about her quirk being known by others... eh, she'll think of something!

She turned to Mechamaru with nervousness. "Hey, Mechamaru, if the others find out about my quirk, what if they-?"

"According to my analysis, about 98.7% of the examinees will be too self-absorbed in the exam to notice you." Mechamaru said in his robotic voice. "Plus, don't worry..."

He glanced at her, "I'll be by your side if anything happens..."

"Mechamaru!" Himiko was so touched that she teared up!

...o0o...

Tsubasa and Kirito hands collided in a high-five.

Kirito grinned, still a bit nervous for today. "Ready to crush this exam, partner?"

Tsubasa flexed his thick arms. "We'll definitely pass! There's no way we're gonna lose!"

The two looked at each other and with a nod, the two set off!

Kirito looked at the sky, "It's time..."

Tsubasa punched forward, a blaze in his eyes. "... to go Plus Ultra!"

...o0o...

"Hi, Momo!" Mitsuki lunged forward, pulling Momo in for a crushing hug that nearly cracked her spine.

"Hello, Auntie." Momo smiled awkwardly, hugging Mitsuki back. "Is Katsukatsu ready?"

Mitsuki pulled back. Her hands covering her mouth as she looked at Momo with wide eyes. Inside, she was squealing like a little girl.

She even has a nickname for her son? She's such an angel!!!

Mitsuki smiled brightly, "He's upstairs, sweetie. Let me go get hi-"

"I'm here! I'm here!" coming down the stairs was Katsuki, in a coat with a scarf around his neck. He had gray gloves on his hands as he slung his backpack behind him.

Mitsuki, however, didn't spare a glance at him, and just stared at Momo fondly. "Listen, sweetie, if my idiot of a son starts mouthing off like a banshee, you just call me and I'll straighten him out."

Katsuki looked at his mother with wide eyes. "HUH?!"

Momo giggled. "Don't worry, Auntie, I'll take care of him."

Mitsuki smiled, but squealed loudly inside. She can't wait for the day where she's called 'Mother-in-law' instead of 'Auntie'. She could feel it in her veins, that day is so close.

She didn't know if Momo was aware of Katsuki's feelings, so Katsuki needs to man up and confess! Until then, she'll be waiting!

A honk was heard outside.

"Oh, there's your father, Katsuki. You two should get going!" She eagerly ran and pushed Katsuki near Momo.

Momo, not seeing any problem, walked to the door.

Seeing how close he is to her, Katsuki's cheeks turned a bit red.

"Katsuki~" his mother whispered.

He turned around to see her giving him a thumbs up.

And then making a threatening cutting motion on her neck, glaring at him, mouthing him that if he ruins either the exam, or angers Momo, she will personally execute him!

Katsuki scowled, a huge tick-mark on his forehead.

He ignored her, walking forward as he grabbed Momo's hand.

Momo blinked. "Huh?"

Katsuki ignored her and his mother's gazes. "We're leaving."

Momo then smiled. "Yeah." she lightly squeezed his hand. "Let's go."

Mitsuki gave a thumbs up when the two weren't looking, her eyes shining!

Good job, son!

Katsuki had a bad feeling in his heart, knowing that if he turned around right now, the old hag was probably doing something stupid. He pulled Momo out of the house.

Inside the car, Masaru, upon seeing Katsuki and Momo hold hands, gripped the steering wheel with a smirk.

Good job, son! You're making your mother and father proud for once!

...o0o...

Ibara Shiozaki stood in front of the flower shop, her hands clasped together as the sun sprinkled around, casting a faint glow around her figure.

She stared at her twin sister with sweet loving eyes. "Dear, Sister. Today is the day where we embark on our journey to UA High. Let's truly give it our all, and pass this exam with flying and beautiful colors, yes?"

Hanami, kneeling on the ground, stared at a lonely flower that was growing on the side of the door in a tiny dirt patch. "This flower... is telling us to have good luck in the exam."

Ibara smiled, she ran over and looked fondly down at the flower. "Thank you for your kind words, and I promise, we will do our best and succeed in this challenge!"

The flower was silent, before it's petals lightly fell down, as if nodding to their quest.

Hanami stood up, flicking her long black hair to the side. The two sharp branches from her head pointing upwards with elegance. "Let us set off. And preach to others about how beautiful nature is..."

Ibara cutely lifted her hands up in prayer. "Yes, let's."

...o0o...

"Yo. You guys are late!" Yuki slouched against the large gate entrance to UA with Tsubasa and Kirito by his side.

The two were busy looking through their bag, making sure they got everything they needed for the writing section of the exam, they even looked into Yuki's bag to compare items.

Katsuki stomped into view with a scowl, Momo trailing behind him with a light smile.

"Shut up!" Katsuki scowled. "My stupid dad was lecturing me to 'be good' and 'do my very best' damn, it pissed me off!" He walked up to the three with his hands in his pockets, slouching like an old man in his 70's.

"He was just encouraging you," Momo softly said. She patted his arm, staring up into his eyes. "Don't worry, you'll do great today. I just know it."

Katsuki stared at her, a blush forming.

Kirito and Tsubasa smirked in their direction.

Yuki, thinking that Katsuki was nervous for the exam, sneered. "What? You scared of failing?"

"THE HELL YOU SAY TO ME?!" Katsuki screamed, freaking out the nearby students walking pass. "LISTEN HERE, YOU TALENTLESS PUNK! I'M GOING TO PASS AND BECOME THE NUMBER ONE HERO AN- I'll be quiet now." Katsuki was interrupted by a slap over his head from Momo.

Momo pulled back her hand with a twitching eye. Why do you always have to resort to screaming and yelling? You keep scaring me!

Yuki pulled down his scarf to reveal the snake's eyes on his cheeks.

"Hey. Hey!" Katsuki backed away. He was in disbelief, couldn't believe that Yuki would even think of doing that on such an important day! "Not today, bastard! I swear, you pull off something like that today, I'm kicking your ass!"

The whole group laughed.

"Stop laughing!" Katsuki yelled.

But then, the whole group, including Katsuki, stared in silence as Izuku freakin' Midoriya stepped into view with a serious look in his eyes.

Kirito rubbed his eyes. "Is that who I think it is?"

Tsubasa was just as puzzled. "Why is Izuku here? Don't tell me.... is he participating in the entrance exam!"

Katsuki stared and then exploded!

Yuki stared at Katsuki with interest. Even watching the show, he was still a bit confused with Katsuki's deal with Izuku, like, why you so angry bro?

"THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE, DEKU?!" Katsuki stomped up.

Izuku flinched, but stood his ground. His fists were trembling by his side. "I-I'm taking the exam too, Kacchan!"

Before Katsuki could scream in outrage, Kirito and Tsubasa ran up.

"C-Calm down." Kirito pushed Katsuki back, turning to stare at Izuku. "Izuku. What are you doing here? Are you really going to do the exam?"

Tsubasa also said with worry, "And, you don't even have a quirk, Izuku. It's gonna be tough for you.."

Izuku's face fell, "B-But I'm different today! I promise you guys!" after these gruesome months of training through All Might's schedule, and inheriting his quirk, Izuku was sure he could pass!

Well, 50% sure, but still...

He just needs a chance!

"Let him do it." Momo walked up, her broom on her back. "I think he's got a chance."

Izuku looked up with wide eyes. "Momo..."

"Let him try!" Yuki walked up with a grin. He gave Izuku a thumbs up. "Besides, there's no reason to stop a boy from dreaming! Let him try!"

Just kidding, knowing what happens, Izuku will definitely pass. Hell, that first Smash was so handsome that it looped constantly in Yuki's mind several times.

The first start of all his Smashes.

Tightening his fists, Izuku's smile trembled. "Yuki!"

"S-Shit! Whatever!" Katsuki turned around.

Kirito and Tsubasa looked at each other with the same worry, before following after Katsuki.

"Just don't get in my way..."

Yuki and Momo winked at Izuku, then ran to catch up with the rest.

Izuku, staring at the backs of his friends getting farther and farther away, grew determined eyes. He puffed out his chest and ran forward! Today was the day, he'll join his friends and become a Hero!

... Only to trip after a few steps as his foot got stuck on a crack in the pavement, he stumbled straight down, the same confident look on his face.

I'm dead!

Only to stop as his body floated.

I'm not dead!

...o0o...

Katsuki turned his head to yell at Izuku, only to blink when nobody was by his side.

"The hell is-" he turned to see a sight that caused his mouth to feel sour.

A floating Izuku, blushing, as he talked to a girl with short auburn hair.

It was probably her quirk doing the floating.

The girl was chatting with Izuku with a smile on her face.

Izuku was nervously scratching the back of his head, responding with a typical shy look.

"This loser..." Katsuki glared. How dare Deku do what not even he could do!

"Huh? Who does this guy think he is?" Kirito turned his head, staring at Izuku flirting with a cute girl.

"This punk." Tsubasa rubbed his knuckles. "Even I never had the chance for a cute girl to approach me..."

Sure, there was Momo. She was cute, but she's a friend, so she doesn't count!

... That, and he's pretty sure that Katsuki will murder him if he ever approaches Momo with romantic ideas...

So, yeah, Momo ain't an option...

Momo stared blankly as a menacing aura enveloped them. What? Are they jealous? It's not that serious...

She snapped her head when a pissed off Yuki entered the scene.

Seeing Izuku happily flirt with a girl made Yuki jealous! So what, he was still single in his past and current life! How dare Izuku be the one to talk to a pretty girl before him!

Screw it, Yuki pulled his scarf down, "I'm petty as hell. {Gravity off}."

The group watched as Izuku fell straight down on his face, as laughter from nearby students echoed in the area.

Meanwhile, Ochaco Uraraka was stunned. She didn't release her quirk, so why did he fall?!

She went down to pick him up, "Are you okay? I'm so sorry!"

"Mghmm." Izuku mumbled on the ground.

Satisfied, Katsuki roared into the air, "That's the spirit, Yuki!"

"Yes, justice has prevailed!" Kirito nodded.

"Good job, Yuki!" Tsubasa agreed.

Yuki, along with the three boys, stood near the entrance, exchanging high-fives.

"Yeah!" Yeah!" Yeah!" Yeah!" Yeah!" the four went, ignoring the stares they were getting from their fellow examinees.

Momo was dumbfounded.

"Hey, what did we miss?" Himiko and Mechamaru appeared from the distance.

Nearby them, Ibara looked at the strange group of boys exchanging claps with each other. What game were they playing?

Hanami just stared. Her lips twitching, she and Momo had the exact same feeling right now.

Today was going to be a long day...
