Chapter 7: Oh, not just any man

"Oh no, not just any man," Ling-er said, her eyes gleaming as she gestured dramatically.

"This is Chase Chen, the most handsome man in China. He's literally won Face of China on every social media platform three years in a row." She glanced at Chase with an admiration that made Xiao Ting's stomach churn.

Her mother's expression practically screamed that if she were Xiao Ting's age,

she wouldn't have wasted a second taking Chase home.

The thought grossed Ting out to no end.

"Hell to the blood no! You are not leaving my care in the hands of some strange man just because his looks rival Cha Eun Woo and Kim Taehyung!" she protested, her voice reaching a pitch of desperation.

Her parents rolled their eyes in unison, utterly unfazed by her outburst, as they carried their luggage out to the waiting Range Rover.

Ling-er, lowering her oversized sunglasses, walked back to Ting and placed a hand on her shoulders. "Ting, when I was your age, I was one of China's biggest models. Your dad was the country's youngest millionaire."

Xiao Ting crossed her arms, unimpressed, but Ling-er wasn't finished. "What I'm saying is, we achieved a lot outside our rooms. We need you to open up to the world, for our sake."

Tears welled up in her mother's eyes, threatening to spill as she blinked furiously to protect her mascara.

Before Ting could respond, Ling-er pulled her into a hug, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. "See you soon, my darling."

Xiao Ting stood there in disbelief as her parents climbed into the car and sped off, leaving a cloud of dust and melodrama behind them.

She scoffed, throwing her arms up in frustration.

"Does anyone else have parents this crazy?!"
