Giyu's gaze also landed on Haru, and seeing Haru's extraordinarily strange appearance, Giyu instinctively mistook him for a demon.
Haru, of course, had no idea that Giyu had taken him for a demon. Right now, the only thing Haru needed to do was protect Nezuko from Giyu's hands, because Nezuko's life or death also had a direct impact on Haru's own fate.
Although Haru had already come to terms with his life earlier, he certainly didn't want to be unexpectedly "humanely" dealt with by the system. Even if he was to die, he wanted to die clearly, at least leaving a complete corpse for his family. Dying in a foreign world like this, Haru had no desire for that.
"You can't touch her!" Haru said coldly to Giyu.
Giyu, likewise, coldly stared at Haru and asked, "Did Kibutsuji Muzan send you?"
Haru naturally couldn't understand what Giyu was saying. He was a transmigrator, how could he be someone else's subordinate?!
"I'm just a passing Demon Slayer. Anyway, you can't kill her!" Haru casually assigned himself the role of a kind-hearted Demon Slayer.
First Form: Water Surface Slash
As soon as Haru finished speaking, Giyu immediately unleashed a Water Breathing technique and swung his blade horizontally, aiming to strike Haru's Demon-Slaying Blade.
Haru was knocked back several meters by the strike. After being pushed back, Haru didn't immediately retaliate because he felt Giyu's murderous intent had momentarily faded. Clearly, his words had caught Giyu's attention.
"A Demon Slayer? You're not a demon? Could it be that you're here to hunt demons?" This was the first time Giyu had heard the term "Demon Slayer." From the literal meaning, it seemed to be similar to the idea of a Demon Hunter. However, Giyu had never seen such an eerie-looking Demon Hunter. This appearance made it hard to view him as a normal human.
(T/N: I'm pretty sure the term Demon Slayer is used in the manga/anime so I don't know why Giyu is confused here.)
As one of the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyu was extremely familiar with demons from years of dealing with them. So, before confirming whether Haru's words were true, Giyu had already analyzed and compared the aura around him.
The result was a surprise to Giyu. Haru's aura wasn't that of a demon. It was a type of energy he had never encountered before.
"A demon? I'm no flesh-eating monster! I'm just a kind-hearted passerby!" Haru scoffed.
Afterward, Haru looked at Giyu, who was still cautious, and continued, "Demons are afraid of sunlight. Whether I'm a demon or not will be proven later. Right now, what you need to do is let the girl go."
"You, being a Demon Slayer, should understand the danger demons pose. If I let her go, it would mean more innocent people would be harmed!" Giyu replied sternly, warning Haru.
"My sister won't eat people, I swear! You have to believe me!" Tanjiro spoke up, vouching for his sister.
However, Giyu merely gave Tanjiro a cold glance and ignored him.
In the end, Giyu turned his gaze back to Haru, wanting to know why Haru was so insistent on having him release Nezuko.
Haru was silent for a while after hearing this. He wasn't sure how to explain things to Giyu. He couldn't just say, "If you kill her, it's like you're killing me too!"
