Chapter 4: The Bet with Tomioka Giyu

"She's different from other demons. She has the potential to turn back into a human, so you can't kill her!" Haru explained.

Upon hearing this, both Giyu and Tanjiro were taken aback, though it was Tanjiro who was most overjoyed. After all, Nezuko was now his only remaining family, and Tanjiro naturally wanted her to return to being human.

"Is that true, senpai? Can you really turn my sister back into a human?" Tanjiro asked urgently, as though grasping onto his last hope.

Haru didn't answer Tanjiro right away. Instead, his focus shifted to Giyu, since Nezuko was still in his hands. If Giyu wasn't careful, he might take the opportunity to kill her.

On the other hand, Giyu was still skeptical, even though Haru's words had taken him by surprise. After all, if it were possible to turn a demon back into a human, how could the Demon Slayer Corps, who had been fighting demons for centuries, not know such a method?

Thus, Giyu remained doubtful of Haru's claim, but seeing that Haru spoke with such confidence, he asked, "Tell me your method."

Haru inwardly sighed, thinking that Giyu was truly a tough one. Of course, Haru didn't actually know how to turn a demon into a human; he had said that purely based on the task he was given.

Since the task had asked him to turn Nezuko back into a human, it meant there must be a way to do so. If there were no such way, it would contradict the mission given by the system. A system as powerful as this wouldn't make such a low-level mistake.

"I'm still researching it, but don't worry, with me watching over her, she definitely won't eat people. If you don't believe me, let her go right now and see if she'll eat this kid. After all, he also said his sister won't eat people. It's a good opportunity for this kid to see if his sister will actually eat him. If she does, then I'll lose the bet, and you can kill her then, and the kid won't be able to argue with you. But if she doesn't, then I win, and you have to let her go." Haru said calmly, as if everything was part of his plan.

Giyu didn't expect Haru to play such a gamble with him. He was certainly bold. However, using an innocent person as bait didn't sit well with Giyu, and it seemed somewhat inhumane.

Haru noticed Giyu hesitating, so he shifted his attention to Tanjiro and said, "Kid, now it's time for you to step up. If you truly believe your sister won't eat people, then accept the bet."

Tanjiro was stunned at first, but once he realized what Haru meant, he immediately agreed to the bet. After all, he believed in his sister and in her ability to stay human.

"Alright! I trust you, senpai, and I trust my sister!" Tanjiro declared confidently.

Seeing that Tanjiro had agreed, Haru gave Giyu a look, signaling him to release Nezuko.

Despite the signal, Giyu hesitated, not immediately letting go of Nezuko.

"With your ability, are you really worried about saving this kid? At most, he'll just learn a lesson," Haru added.

Finally, Giyu slowly released Nezuko. She immediately flashed toward Tanjiro's side.

Seeing this, both Giyu and Haru couldn't help but tense up. Both of them feared that Nezuko might truly attack Tanjiro.
