Chapter 5: You Lost

Haru's fear came from the possibility of losing the bet, which would lead to a confrontation with Giyu, forcing him to snatch Nezuko away. Therefore, Haru was constantly prepared to act at any moment to grab Nezuko.

Though this went against his word, compared to his life, breaking a promise wasn't a big deal. Besides, it wasn't like he was doing anything immoral.

"Nezuko, it's me! I'm Tanjiro!" Tanjiro, facing Nezuko's fierce expression, showed no fear and tried to awaken her humanity with words.

Nezuko studied Tanjiro for a while before turning to Giyu and adopting a threatening posture.

Giyu, stunned by Nezuko's protective stance over Tanjiro, felt a shock in his heart.

In the brief moment of Giyu's distraction, Nezuko launched an attack on him.

"Stop, Nezuko!" Tanjiro, startled by Nezuko's sudden move, shouted in panic.

Haru hadn't expected Nezuko to attack Giyu instead of Tanjiro. This girl really didn't fear death!

Worried the situation would spiral out of control, Haru swiftly moved behind Nezuko and, with a precise strike, knocked her unconscious.

Haru caught Nezuko's unconscious body. The softness of her form made him slightly stunned. This was the first time he had held a girl in his arms.

Although Nezuko was a demon, her body remained soft and unaffected.

"Giyu, you lost! Don't forget our bet!" Haru declared confidently.

To his surprise, as soon as Haru finished speaking, he felt his body go weak, his vision blackened, and he passed out as well.

With Haru's collapse, Nezuko fell onto him.

Giyu had never anticipated Haru fainting. He couldn't make sense of this strange person.

Lying unconscious in the snow, Haru gradually lost his demon-like appearance, returning to his normal form. Giyu was surprised at this change, having assumed that Haru's appearance was just as it had been moments before.

Tanjiro also hadn't expected Haru to faint. In a panic, he crawled over to Haru and Nezuko.

At this moment, Giyu approached, standing over the pair, observing Haru's transformation back to his normal self.

When Haru's true appearance finally emerged, both Giyu and Tanjiro were shocked to see that he was just a young man.

Seeing Haru, who was about his age, Tanjiro couldn't help but feel admiration. If Haru hadn't intervened earlier, who knew what would have happened to his sister?

Giyu crouched down and examined Haru carefully. After a while, he found no abnormalities. Haru's aura was human, like that of any ordinary person.

Reluctantly, Giyu first helped Nezuko up. Tanjiro, seeing this, immediately became anxious, remembering that Giyu had once planned to kill Nezuko.

"What are you doing? Are you going to break your promise?" Tanjiro demanded.

Giyu glanced at Tanjiro briefly before answering calmly, "I won't."

With that, Giyu continued with his actions.

Giyu used his Nichirin Blade to cut a piece of bamboo, selecting a suitable section to fashion a muzzle for Nezuko, preventing her from biting anyone. He then carefully fitted the muzzle onto Nezuko's mouth.

Once he finished, Giyu returned to Haru's side. He took his Nichirin Blade and swiftly sliced open his index finger. Blood began to flow from the cut.
