Maya's eyes narrowed as she looked at Rachel. She was still seething with anger and resentment, but she had managed to keep it hidden beneath the surface.
"Rachel, I'm so glad you're safe," Maya said, her voice dripping with insincerity. "But I have to admit, I'm still a little angry with you."
Rachel looked at Maya in confusion. "Angry with me? Why?"
Maya's smile was cold and calculating. "You know exactly why," she said. "Alex is still in a coma, and it's all because of you."
Rachel felt a pang of guilt and regret. She knew that Maya had feelings for Alex, and she also knew that Maya blamed her for Alex's condition.
"Maya, I'm sorry," Rachel said. "I never meant for any of this to happen."
Maya's expression didn't change. "Sorry isn't enough," she said. "You need to make it right."
Rachel felt a sense of unease. She didn't know what Maya had planned, but she knew it couldn't be good.
