They Both Know what she is

They waited patiently, it had been days, still nothing.

The rest had returned, yet she hadn't, they waited in same spot for hours and still nothing.

 It had been two days.

He refused to believe that she had died. She looked more than capable of taking care of herself, even if she wasn't the most fit.

He hated to admit that he was worried about a mere freshman he had just met. Worst of all, he was tempted to look for her.

That alone was against the rules of Evacrest.

"You are worried about her, I can feel it."

He cast his brother a look letting out a grunt.

"The weapon she chose, Stephen, it was the phoenix's bow." He continued.

Stephen snapped his eyes to his brother, the blue orbs glowing an intense blue.

"And you just let her take it?." He growled cornering his brother.

They were in their personal room in the guardians cabin. No one would hear them.

He gulped, "I got carried away… when I touched her… I know you felt it too." He finished looking up at his brother hopefully.

The knowledge of what he was talking about weighed down on both of them.

They both knew what she was.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the training ground, the freshmen sat in a circle, staring ahead. Some quiet, some still sobbing from the effects of the test.

Quinn sat still on the ground, spine straight as she waited for Liz, she had to come out.

She just had to, She thought sending a prayer to the gods.

Candles and lighters, began to be passed around, each freshman holding one.

Quinn was reluctant to take one, she knew what it meant. It meant it was time to pay respects to the candidates who didn't make it out.

The ones unqualified to attend Evacrest.

The ones who died.

The principal stood in front of them, a distasteful look on his face.

He had so much hope for Ms thorn, perhaps that was his fault. After all she was new to all this.

Clearing his throat, he began to speak.

"In a few minutes we will be paying our respects to our fallen comrades, two of whom didn't make it out of the golden tests-"

He is interrupted by thunder striking across the dark sky and a dark figure stumbling out of the forest.

Covered in blood from head to toe, she stands before her classmates, the sounds of gasp and shock filling her ears.

The principal turned around, shocked at what he was looking at.

Then slowly, one by one, the candles began to burn, the students dropped them in shock, some taking steps back in fear.

Slowly, the fire from the candles began to grow, going up and forming intricate patterns till they glowed above her head.

The symbol of the onyx phoenix glowing above her head.

Time stood still as they watched it.

It glowed so strong and bright, no one could look away from it. It was hypnotic.

She looked up,mismatched eyes staring up at the symbol, a content sigh left her lips before she stumbled forward and blacked out.
