Training and Pokeblock

It had been a few weeks since Rei received Wooloo, and in that time, he had been carefully considering its training direction. Unlike Staraptor, whose potential was sky-high, Wooloo had clear limits.

Staraptor's training had been straightforward. Rei shaped it into the predator of the sky, focusing on speed, precision, and hunting instincts. With Staraptor's high qualifications and strong foundation, achieving this goal was natural. But Wooloo… was different.

Wooloo's potential was only yellow—decent, but far from exceptional. Based on what Rei had learned over the past two years, this meant Wooloo could reach Elite rank but would struggle to break into Gym rank unless it underwent some kind of qualitative change. Unlike Staraptor, which had evolved under special circumstances and absorbed high-quality energy, Wooloo had no such opportunities—at least, not yet.

That's why Rei decided to focus on defense.

Wooloo's biggest strength wasn't its attack power or speed—it was its wool. This thick, fluffy coat wasn't just for warmth. It provided natural damage resistance against physical blows and could be utilized as a shield.

Through his research and observation, Rei discovered that Wooloo's Fluffy ability not only halved the damage from contact moves but also allowed it to absorb and disperse force across its wool. By strengthening this trait, Wooloo could become an impenetrable wall—a Pokémon that could take devastating hits and keep standing.

To build Wooloo's strength, Rei devised a two-part training regimen:

1. Headbutt Training – Wooloo's skull was its primary weapon. By strengthening its neck muscles and thickening its skull, it could turn a simple Headbutt into a devastating battering ram.

2. Fluffy Defense Training – By practicing controlling its wool, Wooloo could adjust the density of its fluff to absorb different types of impact.

Rei started with Headbutt training.

At first, Wooloo struggled to generate enough force. It would charge at a training dummy made of stacked logs, but the impact was weak.

"Again," Rei instructed.

Wooloo backed up, stomping the ground, and charged once more. Thud! The logs barely shifted.

Rei frowned. Wooloo's legs were strong, but it wasn't transferring enough power into the attack.

"You're absorbing too much of your own force with your wool," Rei observed. "You need to tighten your muscles before impact. Make yourself solid, like a rock."

Wooloo bleated in understanding and tried again. This time, it hardened its wool, compressing it so it wouldn't cushion the impact as much.

Boom! The logs wobbled.

"Good! Again!"

After training Wooloo's offense, Rei focused on enhancing its defense.

One key technique he developed was Wool Compression—by instinctively tightening its wool at the moment of impact, Wooloo could absorb more damage and disperse it across its body.

To test this, Rei had Staraptor use Wing Attack against Wooloo.

The first few tries were rough—Wooloo was knocked back every time, rolling like a ball.

"Too soft," Rei muttered. "Try focusing your wool around the impact point."

Wooloo tried again, focusing on the area where Staraptor's attack landed.

Whoosh! Bam!

This time, Wooloo barely moved.

"That's it!" Rei grinned. "Keep practicing. If we perfect this, you'll become an unshakable tank."

Rei's plan was ambitious. He wanted Wooloo to become a living shield—a Pokémon that could stand firm against powerful blows, shielding itself and its allies.

It wasn't flashy, but in battle, a strong defense could turn the tide.

And so, Wooloo trained. Each day, it endured stronger impacts, hardened its wool, and strengthened its resolve.

Rei wasn't sure how far Wooloo would go, but he knew one thing—this was just the beginning.

Besides training, Rei had been experimenting with Pokéblocks.

Recently, the Pokémon Alliance introduced this new form of Pokémon food. These condensed blocks of berry essence were designed to enhance a Pokémon's attributes, and Rei, with his enhanced intelligence and senses, saw this as a golden opportunity.

Using his stockpile of berries from the forest, Rei started crafting his own Pokéblocks. He quickly realized that his version was far superior to the ones sold in the market.

The key lay in his ability to sense energy.

With this skill, Rei could extract the essence of berries with extreme precision, resulting in Pokéblocks with much higher purity.

One of his greatest successes came when he used: Tropius' Flying-type fruit and a combination of high-energy berries

The result was a powerful Pokéblock that significantly enhanced the wing strength of bird Pokémon.

He called it Sky Wing Pokéblock.

When Staraptor ate it, the effects were almost immediate—its wing muscles strengthened, and its control over wind-based techniques improved drastically.

But that wasn't all.

He also created a pokeblock that can improve pokemon's defense that he gave to woolo.

Staraptor also continued becoming stronger. Thanks to its constant training and the Sky Wing Pokéblock, Staraptor unexpectedly learned a new move—Metal Wing.

Rei theorized that the essence of steel energy from Onix's remains had remained in Staraptor's body. Now, combined with the Pokéblock's power, it allowed Staraptor to harden its wings like metal, dramatically increasing the cutting force of its aerial strikes.

With Brave Bird, Air Cutter, and Metal Wing, Staraptor was shaping up to be an absolute force of nature. Of course he also knows other moves but this are the moves that he focused on.

With Rei's power of life that can heal and make pokemon and himself stronger through digestion. Staraptor have become a high Elite level.

Meanwhile, Wooloo continued its defense training, steadily becoming a fluffy fortress.
