After settling Lu Yusi, Gu Anqing returned to her workstation, diving back into her pile of equipment.
If Lu Yusi were to join them, Huang Ming felt the apartment would be too small. It wasn't about living space—it was about functionality.
If they had a bigger place, he'd set up a medical lab for Liu Shuang'er, a mechanical workshop for Gu Anqing, and a biology lab for Lu Yusi.
Right now, the living room felt like it was about to burst into flames. Gu Anqing's work was generating so much heat that the room was practically steaming.
"Let's make do for now. When we get the chance, we'll move to a better place," Liu Shuang'er said, proving once again how well she understood Huang Ming. He loved how she could read his thoughts.
"True. As long as the bedrooms are fine, we can tear up the living room if we have to. Haha!"
Gu Anqing, hearing this, actually believed Huang Ming might clear out the living room entirely.
She couldn't help but interject, "That won't do. We still need a place to eat and relax. Don't take everything away!"
At that moment, Gu Anqing was drenched in sweat, her clothes clinging to her figure. Huang Ming couldn't help but steal a few glances.
Unfortunately, Liu Shuang'er noticed. She was like a clingy little fairy, always aware of Huang Ming's every move.
But she seemed to have come to terms with many things. Unlike before, she didn't throw a tantrum. Instead, she just gave him a sour look and rolled her eyes.
Huang Ming pretended not to notice, casually rubbing his nose and ignoring Liu Shuang'er's resentful gaze. Instead, he turned his attention to Gu Anqing.
"Senior Anqing, take a break if you're too tired. There's a cup of 'Auntie Shanghai' milk tea next to you. Have a drink and cool down. Look at you—you're drenched in sweat."
"I'm fine. This is normal. I'm not that tired. But could you get me some work clothes later? Working in pajamas feels weird."
Gu Anqing took a big sip of the fruit tea, exhaling in satisfaction as if her soul had been uplifted.
Liu Shuang'er, seeing Gu Anqing enjoying her milk tea, pouted in frustration. Her competitive spirit flared up, and her jealousy bubbled over. But she didn't dare vent at Huang Ming. She just stared at him resentfully, silent.
Huang Ming pulled out his phone, curious about what the guys in the group chat were up to.
What he saw shocked him. It hadn't even been three hours since lunch, and they had already descended into madness.
Many of the surviving men, following Wang Lei's example, were posting selfies and videos with the women in the group. They were openly competing, treating the women like objects.
"Old Six, you're not cutting it. Did you skip breakfast or something? Haha!"
"Little Tiger, what are you bragging about? You're not exactly a marathon runner yourself."
A guy calling himself "Big Strong" couldn't take it anymore and chimed in:
"Damn, you two clowns are embarrassing yourselves. Let me show you how it's done!"
Old Six and Little Tiger watched the video and immediately started praising Big Strong.
"Wow, Big Strong, you're the man!"
Huang Ming didn't bother watching the videos. It was too disgusting—something he couldn't have imagined in the past.
"Don't laugh at them. If they didn't offer something, they'd have starved by now. Almost all the girls are out of food. They've been starving for days. They just want to survive. I don't think it's shameful."
Liu Shuang'er, sitting close to Huang Ming with her head on his shoulder, spoke up as they scrolled through the chat.
Huang Ming smiled faintly and analyzed the situation:
"I'm not laughing at them. I just think these guys aren't using their brains. If they worked with the girls, they could form a decent workforce. They might even be able to raid the supermarkets. There are several on campus, and no one's touched them yet."
"You mean the men could clear the way, and the women could carry the supplies. That way, they could still tap into the supermarket resources," Liu Shuang'er said, quickly grasping Huang Ming's meaning.
"Exactly. But these idiots have been led astray by Wang Lei. If it were me, I'd make the most of this workforce. Only under a relatively fair system can labor be maximized. Now, with this gender inequality, it's hard to get the girls to cooperate. They don't believe the men will share the supplies. All they can think of is trading their bodies for survival."
As soon as he finished speaking, Huang Ming's phone buzzed with several friend requests. He glanced at Liu Shuang'er teasingly and said,
"See? Business is coming."
He accepted the requests one by one. Almost all of them were from the women in the group. Before he could react, they started flooding his WeChat with photos, private pictures, and videos, accompanied by messages like:
"Ming, want me? All I need is a meal."
Liu Shuang'er was initially confused about what "business" Huang Ming was talking about. But after a moment, she started mocking him sarcastically:
"Big Brother Ming, your business is booming. Hurry up and take their orders! Don't let the girls starve."
"What are you talking about? Do you think I'm that kind of person?"
This little girl was always picking fights with Huang Ming, but her sarcastic tone was oddly endearing. He couldn't resist pinching her soft cheek.
"Ouch! That hurts! Be gentle..."
Huang Ming was inwardly shocked:
"What the hell!"
"Can you not phrase things so ambiguously? If Gu Anqing hears you, she'll think I'm doing something to you!"
He glanced at Gu Anqing, who was still busy with her materials. It was clear that Gu Anqing's personality was very different from Liu Shuang'er's. Liu Shuang'er was truly a clingy little fairy.
Huang Ming continued scrolling through his phone, ignoring the flirtatious requests from the women in the group.
But one girl's message stood out. Unlike the others, she didn't send photos or videos. Instead, she calmly reached out for help, sending him several messages in a row. This piqued Huang Ming's curiosity.
"Huang Ming, can you help me?"
"I know you must have some special skills to have survived this long. You didn't join the others or follow their lead. I believe in your character. You wouldn't let someone die, right?"
"I just want a meal. I can work for you. All I ask is that you respect me."
"Huang Ming, can you help me? I'm running out of time. I'm out of food."
