Chapter 37: A Villainess Tries to Escape (And Fails Miserably)

Chapter 37: A Villainess Tries to Escape (And Fails Miserably)

Seraphina had had enough.

Enough of Damian's smirks.

Enough of Lucius's possessive nonsense.

Enough of being kidnapped for dates she didn't agree to.

It was time to RUN.

But there was a problem.

Two very big problems.

Damian, the flirtatious vampire menace.

Lucius, the overprotective ice prince.

And both of them were blocking the exit.

Seraphina squinted.

Maybe if she moved fast enough—

Lucius crossed his arms.

Damian smirked.

Seraphina took a step back.

Lucius took a step forward.

Damian tilted his head. "Thinking of running, darling?"

Seraphina did not dignify that with an answer.

Instead—she bolted.

Step One: The Escape Attempt

Seraphina ran for the nearest door.

Lucius immediately moved to block her.

Seraphina swerved.

Damian lunged.

Seraphina dodged.

Damian grabbed nothing but air.

Lucius narrowed his eyes. "You're fast."

Seraphina shot back, "I run for my life daily, thanks to you people."

She was almost at the exit.

So close.

And then—

Damian appeared right in front of her.

Seraphina skidded to a stop.

"…Cheating bloodsucker."

Damian grinned. "Flattering, really."

Seraphina clenched her fists. "Let. Me. Go."

Lucius approached from behind, his voice calm. "You're making a scene, Seraphina."

Seraphina turned to glare. "Oh, I'M making a scene? I WAS KIDNAPPED."

Lucius did not look remotely guilty.

Damian? Also not guilty.

Seraphina inhaled deeply.

Then screamed.

Step Two: The Noble Panic

The ballroom exploded into chaos.

Guests turned.

Chandeliers shook.

Some poor servant fainted.

Lucius blinked. "Was that necessary?"

Seraphina screamed again.

This time—the guards burst in.

Step Three: The Blame Game

The guards paused.

Seraphina pointed dramatically.

"ARREST THEM."

The guards hesitated.

Lucius sighed. "Seraphina—"

"NO. I REFUSE TO HEAR EXCUSES."

Damian whispered to a guard, "Do you really want to arrest him?"

The guard turned pale.

Seraphina watched in horror as the guards bowed to Lucius instead.

Lucius turned to her, completely unfazed.

"You're not leaving, Seraphina."

Seraphina gritted her teeth.

Fine.

Time for Plan B.

Step Four: The Dramatic Collapse

Seraphina clutched her chest.

"Gasp—! My fragile, weak, helpless body—!"

Damian snorted.

Lucius frowned. "You're fine."

Seraphina collapsed anyway.

"I'm dying. Too much stress. If only I had freedom."

Lucius did not move.

Damian looked highly entertained.

Seraphina peeked.

Lucius raised a brow. "Are you done?"

Seraphina sighed.

"I hate this world."
