Seraphina stood at the edge of the glittering ballroom, staring at the predatory look in Prince Alexander's eyes.
"…I swear, if you step on my foot, I'll kill you."
Alexander chuckled, offering his hand.
"Then I'll be careful, my dear villainess."
Seraphina rolled her eyes but placed her hand in his.
The moment their hands touched, the entire ballroom gasped.
Whispers exploded like fireworks.
"Did Prince Alexander just ask Lady Seraphina to dance?"
"The villainess?!"
"Is she seducing him?!"
Seraphina fought the urge to groan.
"Why do people always assume I'm seducing someone?" she muttered.
Alexander smirked.
"Because you're dangerously beautiful?"
Seraphina stared at him.
"Are you flirting with me again?"
Alexander twirled her onto the dance floor.
"Would you like me to stop?"
Seraphina considered this.
Then, with a perfectly villainous smile, she whispered:
"No. I'd like you to suffer instead."
She stepped on his foot. Hard.
Alexander flinched.
"…Noted."

Seraphina was not an elegant dancer.
She was, however, a menace.
By the time the song reached its halfway point:
She had stepped on Alexander three times.
Nearly tripped over her own dress.
And accidentally elbowed a duke in the face during a spin.
The duke collapsed.
The entire ballroom went silent.
Seraphina blinked.
"…Oops?"
The duke groaned.
Alexander burst out laughing.

The second the song ended, Seraphina bolted for the exit.
Alexander caught her wrist.
"Not so fast."
Seraphina glared.
"Are you physically incapable of letting me escape?"
Alexander smirked.
"Perhaps."
A noblewoman stepped forward.
"Prince Alexander, what are your intentions with Lady Seraphina?"
Seraphina froze.
Uh-oh.
Alexander, the absolute menace that he was, tilted his head thoughtfully.
"My intentions?"
He turned to Seraphina and grinned.
"Would you like to tell them, my dear?"
Seraphina's soul left her body.
She grabbed his collar.
