Chapter 84: A Villainess Fights Off Assassins (While in a Ballgown)
Seraphina stared at the chaos unfolding.
Nobles screamed and scrambled to escape as masked figures leapt into the ballroom from the windows.
Weapons glinted in the chandelier light.
Seraphina sighed.
"I hate this world."
Lucien, completely unbothered, sipped his wine.
"Well, this is exciting."
Damian was already moving, his blade flashing.
Seraphina groaned.
She hadn't even brought a weapon!
One of the assassins charged at her.
Seraphina sidestepped, grabbed a silver platter from a passing waiter, and smashed it into his face.
He collapsed instantly.
Lila whistled.
"Not bad."
Another assassin lunged.
Seraphina ducked, snatched a candelabra, and swung it like a club.
The assassin crashed into a table.
Lucien chuckled.
"Creative."
Seraphina snapped.
"HELP INSTEAD OF COMMENTING!"
Lucien sighed dramatically and finally set down his wine glass.
"Fine."
He vanished—
And reappeared behind an assassin, whispering something in his ear.
The man froze in terror.
Then, without another word, he fled.
Seraphina blinked.
"What did you say to him?"
Lucien smirked.
"Just a friendly warning."
Seraphina did not want to know.
Meanwhile, Damian had already taken down three assassins with precise, deadly movements.
One of them tried to run—
Damian grabbed him by the collar.
"Who sent you?" he growled.
The assassin trembled.
"Y-You think I'll talk?"
Damian smiled.
"Yes."
He dragged the man out of the ballroom.
Seraphina sighed and dropped the candelabra.
"Well, that was exhausting."
Lila grinned.
"On the bright side, you looked stunning while fighting for your life."
Seraphina groaned.
"That's not a bright side."
Lucien chuckled.
"Oh, but it is, my dear villainess."
Seraphina glared at him.
"Don't start."
Lucien smirked.
"Too late."
