Chapter 87: A Villainess Receives an Unexpected Proposal

Chapter 87: A Villainess Receives an Unexpected Proposal

Seraphina was enjoying a peaceful afternoon.

Which, of course, meant chaos was about to strike.

She was sipping tea in the garden when Damian dropped a velvet box on the table.

Seraphina stared at it.

Then at Damian.

Then back at the box.

"…Did you just propose to me with the enthusiasm of someone delivering bad news?"

Lucien, who had been lounging nearby, choked on his drink.

Damian sighed.

"It's not a proposal."

Seraphina raised a brow.

"Then why did you throw a ring at me?"

Damian crossed his arms.

"My mother insists I need to be engaged. You are the least annoying option."

Lucien was now fully cackling.

Seraphina picked up the box, flipped it open.

A ridiculously expensive ring stared back at her.

"Huh." She smirked. "I do like expensive things."

Damian nodded.

"You do."

Lucien leaned in.

"So? Are you going to say yes?"

Seraphina leaned back in her chair.

"Oh, I don't know. Being engaged to Damian Kingston? The brooding prince of murder?"

Damian narrowed his eyes.

"I don't brood."

Lucien grinned.

"You absolutely do."

Seraphina tapped her chin.

"What's in it for me?"

Damian shrugged.

"Protection. Power. A lifetime supply of expensive jewelry."

Seraphina pretended to think.

Then grinned.

"Throw in unlimited pastries, and I'll consider it."

Damian sighed.

"Fine."

Lucien snickered.

"You're terrible."

Seraphina slipped the ring on her finger and admired it.

"I prefer the term 'efficient negotiator.'"

Damian crossed his arms.

"So? Is that a yes?"

Seraphina smirked.

"Oh, Damian. You have to woo me properly first."

Lucien burst out laughing.

"She's going to make you suffer."

Damian pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Why am I doing this to myself?"

Seraphina winked.

"Because I'm charming."

Damian grumbled.

"I regret everything."

Lucien grinned.

"Oh, this is going to be fun."

Seraphina just sipped her tea, already planning how much she could milk this situation.

After all, if she was going to be engaged to the most dangerous man in the kingdom…

She might as well have fun with it.
