Chapter 89: A Villainess Forces Her Fiancé to Sing (and Everyone Suffers)

Seraphina was absolutely living for this moment.

The grand hall was packed. The nobles had gathered, expecting some grand announcement regarding Seraphina and Damian's engagement.

But oh no.

Seraphina had other plans.

Damian stood at the center of the room, stiff as a board, glaring daggers at her.

Seraphina smirked from her seat.

"Go on, dear fiancé. You made a promise."

Lucien was already wheezing.

"I cannot believe this is happening."

The crowd murmured in excitement.

"A public serenade? How romantic!"

"I didn't know Duke Damian could sing!"

He couldn't.

Damian cleared his throat.

"This is ridiculous."

Seraphina sipped her tea.

"So is attempting to marry me. Get on with it."

Damian looked like he wanted to strangle her.

But a deal was a deal.

The musicians began playing. A slow, dramatic tune.

Damian took a deep breath and…

Opened his mouth.

And immediately, the first note shattered a chandelier.

The entire hall went silent.

Lucien fell off his chair laughing.

A noblewoman fainted.

A nearby servant covered his ears, horrified.

The head butler resigned on the spot.

Seraphina was stunned.

"…I… I expected it to be bad, but…"

Damian scowled.

"There. I sang. Happy?"

Lucien couldn't breathe.

"You— I— this—" He collapsed into another fit of laughter.

Seraphina was still in shock.

"…You actually broke the chandelier."

The nobles were whispering.

"This was supposed to be romantic…"

"I think my ears are bleeding."

Damian crossed his arms.

"Well? Was that good enough?"

Seraphina snapped out of it and smirked.

"Oh, absolutely not. You're doing this every week, remember?"

Damian's eye twitched.

Lucien wheezed.

"I am never letting you live this down."

Damian was already regretting every life decision that had led to this moment.
