''But. My Queen. That prisoner is not even one of us. How can she stop you from being the Dragon Queen? Does she have any form of power, or is there something she knows about you that nobody else does? If that is the case, we must eliminate her at once.'' The ever loyal Yurus assured Scarlet of his ability to serve her.
''None of that is the answer, Yurus. But that does not mean that we don't have to desperately silence her.'' Scarlet looked closely at Yurus, wondering whether she could confide in him.
Yurus was her trusted servant for many years, but he had his moments when he acted like a complete idiot, and it usually caused a lot for Scarlet. One time, Yurus had gone shopping with Scarlet and tried to force the manager to give Scarlet a huge discount just because she was the Dragon King's girlfriend and would soon be the Dragon Queen.
Scarlet was outside waiting for Yurus to make the payment and take her home, unknown to her that he was busy bullying the salesgirl and the manager.
''Yurus. What I am about to tell you is very sensitive, and I must warn you to keep it as such. Do not mention anything to anyone about it. Okay?'' Scarlet said.
Yurus nodded eagerly. That was the sort of thing he liked. Classified information. Information that was not open to the public was what Yurus thrived on, as it gave him a sense of importance.
''That filthy rogue is the King's mate.'' Scarlet let it out without thinking twice.
Yurus was not sure if he heard correctly.
''Pardon me my Queen, but are you aware that the rogue is a werewolf?''
Scarlet nodded.
''That's what makes it even more serious. Why would a werewolf be a fated mate to a dragon if not...'' Scarlet looked at Yurus, wondering if he remembered the Tale Of Doom.
Yurus' eyes shone in disbelief.
''The Tale Of Doom!'' He gasped.
Scarlet smiled.
''I'm glad you are getting the hang of it now, Yurus. You get it now.''
''But...but...my Queen. If that is the case, should we try to stop her? The Tale Of Doom is bigger than all of us. Even King Devon is powerless as far as The Tale Of Doom is concerned.'' Yurus was afraid.
Scarlet glared at Yurus, forcing him to stop talking.
''Do you expect me to just give up my man because of some silly tale? Well, that won't happen. It's still early enough to eliminate that rogue before the tale starts unravelling. She's not dangerous yet.'' Scarlet was determined.
''Yurus. Clear out the passage to the dungeon so that nobody will spot me when I go to visit her. Make it happen.'' Scarlet signaled for Yurus to leave her room and get to work.
''There's not so much to do. Just ask the three wardens there to go on errands that will have them spend a lot of time out, then I guarantee that you will have a seamless visit, '' Yurus replied.
An hour later, Yurus called his queen, Scarlet.
''Make it quick, my Queen. The coast is clear now.''
Scarlet quickly got up and followed the back stairs leading out of her chambers in the King's court.
Just as Yurus had said, the coast was clear as day.
Scarlet could not believe the stench that came out of the dungeon. She had never been to the dungeon before, as there had never been any reason whatsoever to be there, so she did not know just how heavily the place stunk.
''Yurus!'' Scarlet covered her nose and flashed a displeased expression.
''My Queen. You are in the dungeon. What did you expect? The dungeon has always been a place to smell like death and misfortune. Just be snappy so that we can leave before anyone comes back.'' Yurus walked ahead of Scarlet, leading the way.
They walked through a long corridor with cells to the left and right wings. Prisoners were heard brooding in pain while some just lay on the floor, waiting for death. Scarlet could swear that one or two of the prisoners that she saw were dead.
''She is the last prisoner that was brought in, my Queen, so her cell is down the hall.'' Yurus sensed that Scarlet was tired of walking through that smelly place, so he explained why the walk was taking so long.
Finally, they stopped in front of one of the cells to the right.
''Here she is.'' Yurus took a look inside the cell before removing a key from his dress and slotting it into the keyhole.
''Where did you get the key?'' Scarlet was surprised. She had only meant to talk to Ayra through the cell gate, and that was all, but Yurus offered her more.
Yurus smiled, feeling accomplished.
''I'm Yurus, my Queen. Whatever Yurus wants, Yurus gets.'' The smile on Yurus' face at that point was so broad, like a puppy who had just been called a good boy.
Scarlet was delighted, but her smile faded as soon as she entered the cell and set her eyes on Ayra.
Ayra sat in a corner of the cell with her head bowed between her knees as she waited for whatever her fate would be, but when she heard the noise in her cell, she slowly raised her head.
Scarlet was so livid when she saw how beautiful Ayra was. Even in a state of discomfort and extreme suffering, Ayra still glowed in her face, and the innocence that her eyes carried made her more outstanding.
Scarlet thought, indeed, Ayra was the carrier of The Tale Of Doom. It was the most random thing to happen in her lifetime.
''Rogue!'' Scarlet called Ayra with a demeaning tone and made sure to make Ayra know just how stinky she was.
Ayra did not say anything at first, but just when Scarlet opened her mouth to continue talking to Ayra, Ayra eventually said the words.
''I am not a rogue.''
