Ayra could only relax as she was taken into this unknown territory.
Her wolf senses made her catch the vivid scent of magic. Magic filled the air in that space that Ayra was being taken into, and it made her eager to know exactly where she was.
"Are the Fae's here?" Ayra asked herself.
She waited to see where she would end up, and soon enough, Ayra felt herself being lowered to the floor.
"My Lord, we found a stray at the entrance of the castle."
One of the men that carried Ayra, appeared to be speaking to his superior or the king?
"Wait a minute." Ayra felt she could recognize the people around her. They were vampires.
They all looked so pale, with their red lips burning red like hot larva.
Ayra looked very different from them, just like it was in the dragon kingdom.
"A stray, eh? It's been ages since anyone wandered towards the gates of the castle. What makes this one so special?"
The vampire king, Lord Declan Dark, was a queer man with looks that could make the world stop.
The eccentric vampire king was known for his melancholy and mysterious nature, and the tone of his voice oozed with mockery and suspense.
"What's the spec, a guy or a girl?" Lord Declan started to walk towards Ayra in a bid to see who it was that had stumbled on his very well-hidden castle.
"It's a young girl, my Lord. Probably in her late teens." One of the vampire men said.
As soon as Lord Declan looked at Ayra, he shrieked in pain.
"Who is she? Who are you?" Lord Declan's voice softened, and his eyes became smaller and dilated.
"Water…" Ayra managed to croak the word.
Everyone around was surprised to see how Lord Declan reacted to Ayra's plea for water.
"Quickly, get her water. Didn't you hear her? If anything happens to the love of my life, I swear, I will make you all miserable."
The love of his life?
It was the most shocking thing that Lord Declan had ever said since anyone knew him.
How could a stray whom they found lying at the entrance of the castle be the love of his life?
While everyone was shocked at the behavior of the vampire king, they made sure to get the water to Ayra anyway.
The way Ayra rushed to drink the water and ask for more, appeared to make Lord Declan's heartache. He felt that Ayra had been suffering for days without food and water.
Lord Declan watched Ayra closely as she took the water, then he started to interrogate her soon after.
"My name is Ayra…" Ayra replied to Lord Declan when he asked her who she was after she was satisfied with the water.
"My love, why did you choose to travel in these dangerous terrains all by yourself? Were you so eager to meet me?" The vampire king asked.
"My Lord!" One of the servants of Lord Declan suddenly called, his eyes popping open in amazement.
Lord Declan rolled his eyes.
"I'm bonding with the love of my life." He was crazy about Ayra.
"Yes, My Lord. But I have something urgent to tell you." The person speaking was none other than the vampire king's guard, Marlon.
Marlon was the only person that could date to question the vampire king as well as interrupt him when he had just said that he was indulging the love of his life.
Lord Declan glared at Marlon with anger.
"It had better be worth my time or else I will impale you." The vampire king turned around and led the way to his inner chamber where he would listen to whatever Marlon had to say.
Marlon swallowed hard. At least, what he wanted to tell Lord Declan was as important as the entire underworld, so he was not afraid of the man's threat.
Lord Declan sat at his desk, his face looking downtrodden and uninterested as he waited for Marlon to speak.
"My Lord, how do you know that the stray is the love of your life?" Marlon made sure to sound and appear worried so that he could douse whatever anger that his question to the vampire king would bring.
Lord Declan frowned.
"Are you asking me to tell you how I know that I am in love?" The vampire king was definitely getting upset.
Marlon shook his head.
"No. Not at all, my Lord. I'm just trying to be careful so that we don't fall into a curse. You know, there's a tale of…" Marlon started to explain, but he was cut short by the vampire king as Lord Declan roared in a fit.
"A curse? Are you suggesting that my finding the love of my life is tied to a curse?" Lord Declan was furious. The nerve of Marlon not to hold his tongue about such a thing.
He knew how easy it was for him to spit fury on anyone who drove him crazy enough, so the Vampire King signaled to Marlon.
''Get out!''
''My Lord, I'm sorry. I cannot leave without at least telling you this. When I tell you whatever it is, you will understand why I am insisting that you listen to it.'' Marlon did not budge.
Seeing that Marlon was as serious as a rock on earth, Lord Declan sobered up and poised to listen to what Marlon wanted to say.
''It had better hit me at once or else I will beat the life out of your nostrils.'' Lord Declan said as he took a seat, assuming a more comfortable position.
''Have you ever heard of the carrier of the Tale Of Doom?'' Marlon asked Lord Declan.
''I must look like one of those kids who gave a shit about mythical and magical creatures, right? A tale of doom indeed.'' Lord Declan laughed.
''I knew it that it would not be worth it.'' Lord Declan waved Marlon aside, not taking him seriously.
