"Didn't you know?" Envy questioned, smirking as Todd telekinetically threw Scott through a wall and toward an alleyway with dumpsters. "Todd's a vegan. Graduated top of his class from Vegan Academy and everything."
"And here I thought he was some kind of Conduit at first. Could you imagine? A Vegetable Conduit? Yeah, right." You snickered, looking in the direction Scott was thrown. "Oh, right. This is bad."
"I mean, anyone can become a vegan if they work at it, right?" Stephen pondered.
"Um, no." Envy answered.
"No. Ovo-lacto vegetarian, maybe." Todd corrected, his eyes and hair back to normal.
"Uh... why not?" Kim wondered, confused.
"Most people just can't take it. It's a fact of science. The main thing to know is that I'm better than most people." Todd explained, combing his hair back down.
"That's what they taught you?" Kim was skeptical.
"Hey, go ahead and get snippy, baby. If you knew the science, maybe I'd listen to a word you're saying." Todd scoffed, waving his hand as Kim flipped him off.
"What kind of science is that following? That's not even close to anything a scientist would say." You remarked, looking at Todd.
"And what science do your powers follow?" Todd countered, glaring at you.
"Natural mutation, bitch." You replied smugly, sticking out your tongue.
"Are you well?" Ramona asked as she walked over to where Scott crashed. "Scott?"
"Ughhhh..." Was Scott's only response, laying in a pile of garbage.
"Uh... hey. How does not eating dairy products give you psychic powers, anyway? I've been wondering." Stephen asked, curious.
"You know how you only use ten percent of your brain?" Todd started as he lit a cigarette.
"This is another fact of science?" Kim guessed, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, it's because the other 90 percent is filled up with curds and whey!" Todd exclaimed, blowing smoke as he did so.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" Scott shouted as Ramona helped him up.
"Maybe if you knew the science..." Todd said, rolling his eyes.
"Anyway, that's why you can't win this fight, Scott, and you'll have to give up on dating this girl." Envy concluded, her hands on her hips in a very much cocky pose.
"What?!" Ramona exclaimed, glaring at her.
"You know about all this?" Scott was shocked.
"Of course I do! I've been with Todd since I was eleven!" Envy explained.
"So... he cheated on you with me?" Ramona assumed.
"Don't be ridiculous!" Envy retorted.
"I'm not being ridiculous, I'm just trying to-" Ramona was cut off by Envy.
"I know what you're trying to do, and it won't work. Nothing will. You're finished and Todd will make sure it stays that way." Envy declared, pointing at Scott and Ramona.
"Wyenn, shouldn't you jump in or something?" Stephen turned to you.
"Oh, right." You cleared your throat, looking at Todd and Envy. "Uh... How do I put this...? Okay, you leave my friends alone, or things will get ugly fast. Easy way or hard way, your choice."
"Oh, wow, how intimidating. Did you read that off a script?" Envy mocked. "Fine. Since you were so kind as to humiliate our drummer."
"I planned on fighting you anyway, Rowe. And I don't lose." Todd declared, glaring at you. "Any last words?"
"I see... the hard way it is, then..." You cracked your neck, your knuckles, and stretched your arms before answering, video surrounding your arms. "Bring it."
- Y/N Rowe! VS! Todd Ingram! Fight! -
Todd was the first to make a move. His eyes glowed green and his hair stood up. His right arm moved, and a dumpster flew towards you. You jumped, and hopped on the flying object, then hopped off as it was about to hit a wall, shooting a video torrent.
From what it seemed, Todd tried to "grab" the projectiles, but ultimately failed to halt them as they all hit their target. The exact nature of what matter or energy video manipulated was vague, with possibilities of light, hardlight, gas or even an offshoot of electricity.
Regardless, because of these many possibilities, video projectiles couldn't be grabbed by hand or psychic power alike. Todd was knocked back a bit, surprised his vegan powers failed.
"Don't ask what they're made of. I don't know, either." You told him, smirking.
Without wasting more time, you sent a flurry of bloodthirsty blades to lock on to Todd. He managed to grab another dumpster and block them. Or a few of them, since these exploded upon contact.
The dumpster took the blast of 2 blades, leaving Todd vulnerable to the single, remaining blade, which hit him in the side, stunning him for a second. You video surged at him with your wings and video sword out, making a slow horizontal swing at him.
He barely managed to dodge, and he countered with a hit to your face and grabbing you with his telekinesis, throwing you upward. You took the chance to gain the high ground and hover in place, firing various bursts of video torrent.
Todd blocked some, but he was hit by most. He still didn't show signs of giving up. Instead, he sent various garbage bags and trash cans your way. While you were hovering, you could only move so much, so eventually, one of the trash cans managed to hit you.
You started falling, but quickly regained composure, and prepared to perform a comet drop. That meant gathering video in your arm, reel it back, and crash into the ground in an epic way.
And it worked, because when you hit the ground with your fist, a large shockwave was created, and it hit Todd, knocking him off balance. Then, you charged at him with your sword, swinging it at him. You got a good 4 hits on him.
He was stunned and couldn't fight back for a moment, which is exactly what you needed. You summoned bloodthirsty blades and fired them, and all 3 blades hit their target.
"This is getting embarrassing!" Envy called out. "Okay, time out! Time out, okay?!"
- You Win! -
You and Todd stepped back, your video fading away, and eyes and hair going back to normal respectively. You guys actually listened. Well, you were gonna listen anyway, but you didn't expect Todd to, especially since you beat him.
"How are you winning?" Todd asked, his hair and eyes back to normal.
"I'm good. It's not that hard to believe, really." You shrugged. "Anyway, why the timeout?"
"Look, it's almost 3:30 am..." Stephen pointed out.
"Right. It's almost 3:30am and as it, and we've been here for 3 chapters of this book. Let's call it a night." Todd suggested, looking annoyed. "I meant to just finish off Scott... But this is personal now, Rowe."
"You wanna hurt a Sex Bob-Omb member, you'll have to go through me." You glared at him. "You want some? Then come and get it."
"Tell that to the cleaning lady on Monday." Todd scoffed.
"...What?" You were confused.
"Because... Because you'll be dust on Monday." Todd said, trying to sound intimidating.
"Uh... huh?" You were even more confused.
"Because I'll be pulverizing you sometime over the weekend." Todd elaborated.
"I'm sorry, is there something I'm missing?" You inquired, tilting your head.
"And the cleaning lady... cleans up... dust. She dusts." Todd explained further. "And she had weekends off, so... Monday. Right?"
"What the hell are you talking about, Todd?" Envy asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Point is! We have unfinished business, I and they!" Todd pointed at you.
"'They and I.'" You corrected.
"Don't you talk to me about grammar...!" Todd shouted, about to punch you.
"We'll finish it tomorrow. Look, let's have a sleep in, have a late breakfast, and we'll meet up around 1pm, okay?" Envy proposed.
"Do you want me to bring some bagels while we're at it, or...?" You awkwardly asked at how suddenly casual everything was.
"I mean, that would be nice, yes." Envy answered, looking at you.
"Where?" Scott asked.
"Honest Ed's." Envy told him.
"What? Why?" Scott asked again.
"Oh, Scott. Don't you like surprises?" Envy wondered, smirking.
- A few seconds after they left -
It began to rain, and everyone ran for shelter. A few minutes later, it didn't seem like the rain wasn't stopping until morning.
"Sheesh. What now?" You sighed, leaning against a wall. "At this rate, we'll have to stay overnight in Lee's Palace. Rain's just not gonna let up anytime soon."
"Yeah... I don't think it's stopping anytime soon." Stephen agreed. "Wyenn, can't you do something?"
"Hm... Oh, actually, I can." You snapped your fingers and a portal to the Virtual World opened. "Sleepover at the VW, anyone?"
Everyone looked at each other, and nodded. Everyone except Kim, who said, "I'll see you guys at band practice." As she walked off into the rain.
"Wait." You ran over to her before she got too far, and put a hand on her shoulder. "You're... not staying over at the VW?"
"Or coming to the thing? The Honest Ed's thing?" Stephen added.
"Blow me." Kim deadpanned, flipping off the both of you. Or you thought, because it felt like it was directed more toward Stephen.
"I know this whole thing is pretty messy, but... you don't have to go out into the rain like that. As cool as that may look to others." You offered, worried. "Don't come to the face-off at Honest Ed's, sure. But... stay around. At least until the rain stops."
"Look, it's a lot of things, okay?" Kim sighed, turning to face you. "I don't wanna be next to the two lovebirds. I like my sleep uninterrupted."
"I'll just make you your own exclusive house. Me and the others can stay in a completely separate one, and you can sleep." You explained.
Kim paused. "You can do that?"
"It's the Virtual World. I can do anything there." You answered. "I promise you won't hear anybody swapping spit or making out. Or whatever it is you don't wanna hear."
"...Fine." Kim gave in. "But if I hear someone making out, I'm leaving, and that's final."
"Deal." You grinned, leading her into the portal.
Once Kim was in the VW, you waited for Ramona and Scott to follow before you closed the portal. "Uh... Do you want to get some food?" Scott asked Ramona.
"Not really." Ramona answered.
"Some pop or something? Soda pop?" Scott kept trying.
"Not... really. Let's just go inside the-" Ramona was interrupted.
"Pizza Pizza's right across the street and it's totally open." Scott told her, leading her to the pizza place regardless.
"Scott, she doesn't- Oh, forget it." You tried to call out, but ultimately gave up as you closed the portal for the time being and followed behind them.
- Inside Pizza Pizza -
"Hey, Scott and Wyenn!" Other Scott greeted.
"Scott, Ramona, and Wyenn! My favorite boy / girl couple and my favorite Conduit!" Wallace, who also happened to be there, greeted as well. "How's stuff?"
"Uh... fine. We were just at a show." Scott replied.
"What about you guys? Getting a bite after a night of clubbing?" You guessed.
"What gave it away?" Other Scott joked. "But yeah, we went clubbing, got drunk, had a great time. Who was playing on stage, anyway?"
You made a sizzling sound with your mouth, scratching your head nervously. "Oof... About that..."
"It was no-one. Some local band. From Montreal." Scott covered up.
"Scott's uh, ex." Ramona added, awkwardly.
"Yeah... Envy made her appearance..." You explained, awkwardly. "For the record, I'm starting to seriously reconsider Envy being nice. She's a massive bitch."
"Are you kidding me?!" Wallace exclaimed, shaking Scott by his shoulders. "She called you and that put you in a coma, and you actually went to see her play?!"
Wallace, Wallace!" You exclaimed, separating him from Scott. "Let's calm down, okay? Talk it out."
"We sat in a dirty room with her for like seven zillion hours while she lorded it over with her smug little laugh and her high heels." Ramona recounted.
"It wasn't that bad!" Scott defended.
"Scott, yes, it was." Ramona deadpanned.
"Yeah, I gotta agree. The tension was so thick, it could be cut with a knife." You added.
"What band is this?" Other Scott asked as he took a bite of his pizza.
"That unbelievable bitch! If she gets her claws on you again, Scott, so help me!" Wallace shouted, shaking his fists before stopping. "-Are you wearing my shirt?"
"This is yours?" Scott asked, looking down at his shirt.
"Well, I was wearing it the other day, anyway..." Wallace grumbled, crossing his arms.
"So... do I take it off?" Scott questioned.
"Dude, don't." You advised,
"Ahem. Envy Adams!" Ramona couched, trying to divert the subject.
"Where? I'll kick her snotty ass!" Wallace yelled, looking around.
"No need. Y/N here already did." Ramona said, lightly punching your chest. "Kicked both the drummer and the bassist's asses. A pretty cool show, too."
"Aw, shucks." You rubbed the back of your head, sheepishly. "All in a day's work."
"Anything else I need to know?" Wallace asked, looking between you and Scott.
"Well, Envy is dating Ramona's third evil ex-boyfriend, and he's kind of, sort of. uh, though." Scott explained. "And I didn't even fight him."
"And Scott is extra-stupid and volatile around that precious little ho-bag." Ramona added.
"Extra-stupid?!" Scott exclaimed.
"No offense, Scotty-" You apologized, patting his shoulder. "...but you really did make a fool out of yourself tonight. Just being honest."
"Well, train. Don't worry. Tomorrow morning. That way, you won't need Wyenn to fight for you." Wallace suggested, taking a bite of pizza.
"Tell them about your friend." Other Scott chimed in.
"Oh! Dude! I picked up this boy? Named Mobile?" Wallace, with a mouthful of pizza, explained.
"His name is Mobile?" Scott inquired, as if to say "is that seriously his name? Like, unironically?"
"Yes!" Wallace excitedly confirmed.
"Is he... European?" Scott questioned further.
"That's what you're assuming?" You chuckled.
"He's very intense!" Other Scott said.
"He's slightly intense." Wallace corrected.
"Very." Other Scott countered.
"Anyway, he went to the bank machine, I don't know what's taking him so long..." Wallace shrugged, as the three of you sat down.
So you're saying I should stay over at Ramona's?" Scott asked as he looked over to Ramona.
"Uh..." Ramona didn't know how to answer.
"Ramona, pleeeease.... I picked up this boy and we only have one bed in our apartment and I need the one bed for cuddling!" Wallace begged.
"Don't I know it." Ramona rolled her eyes.
"Ramona, I love you. I'll love you forever. And I have dipping sauce for you! I'll be your dipping sauce bitch!" Wallace bargained. Even on the verge of tears, he determined to get Scott out of the house, if even for one day.
"Dude. It's okay. Scott can come over. He just... he smell like trash." Ramona agreed, raising her hands in the air in surrender. "But it's okay."
"If you stay over at the VW, I can generate him a shower." You told Ramona, who nodded. "I got you covered. Seems like you're stressed enough already, so I'll help with whatever I can."
"Thanks, Y/N. I'm just tired and cranky like... how did Scott date her? What's wrong with him?!" Ramona asked.
"I'm assuming that Envy wasn't always such a bitch." You theorized. "Surely, something happened. Like, the second she got a little fame, it got to her head. Or the minute people started recognizing her. That's probably when the trouble started."
"Whatever the case, let's be friends on mutual hate." Wallace suggested, offering his hand, which Ramona shook.
"But seriously, it's unreal. Look at him! He's so cutesy and unassuming." Ramona commented.
"Cutesy?" Scott repeated, blushing.
"And even more when Y/N's around him. They're so cool and badass." Ramona added.
"Cool?" You repeated, blushing, yourself.
"Oh, hey, Scott give me your keys. I forgot my keys." Wallace told Scott.
"You invited a guy over, knowing you had no keys?" Scott asked, dumbfounded.
"I figured it'd all work out. And it did! This bodies well for my future." Wallace responded, shrugging.
"Okay, we're leaving now. Y/N, portal." Ramona demanded.
"Yes ma'am." You obliged, snapping your fingers and opening the portal to the VW. "Bye, guys!"
"Yeah, bye guys." Scott waved.
And to the Virtual World we go. Everyone was outside, keeping themselves busy with whatever it was that you created to keep yourself busy.
"Wyenn, what took so long? We've been waiting for you to get back to make our rooms or whatever." Stephen informed, sounding even more tired than usual.
"Oh, whoops. My bad. I'll get to it right away." You said as with a snap and a little imagination, you created a giant virtual house where everyone could sleep in. And you also made Kim her own place, like you promised. "Alright, sleepy time, everyone. Chop chop."
- Saturday Morning -
And so, everyone awoke in the VW. It felt strange to all of them, waking up in not only the same house where everyone else, excluding Kim, slept in, but also in a fake reality.
You slept in your own bed, Scott and Ramona decided to share, Stephen, Neil, and Knives had their separate beds, and Kim had her own house altogether.
"Wyenn..." Scott's morning voice woke you up.
"5 more minutes..." You muttered, rolling over.
"I wanna go home and you're the only one-" Scott paused to yawn. "...that can get me out of here."
"Mhm... uh... I'll walk there with you, don't worry. Just gimme a sec to-" You yawned. "...to uhm... uh..." You trailed off as you started to go back to sleep.
"Wyenn? Wyenn!" Scott tried to shake you back awake.
"Alright, alright. Jeez..." You sat up, rubbing your eyes before putting on your shades. "Let's go. I'll make sure to drop the others off at their houses on the way."
