CHRISTIAN'S POV
“Emily...” I whispered roughly, barely able to speak.
I stared at her, the puzzle finally coming together in my mind. Her face swam in my sight as my mind went back to that night and the face of the person who held out her hand to me.
The realisation hit me hard, my body stiffening further. It wasn't Lucy who pulled me out of the lake that night years ago, she had lied. It was Emily. My Emily.
My heart skipped a beat as I kept staring at her, her eyes closed as she heaved, her body shaking with violent coughs. The realisation hit me like a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless with guilt.
How could I never have found out the truth for so long? How was it possible? Emily was never there that night, I only saw Lucy. Was there a chance it was Emily that saved me?
My mind swirled with several thoughts till I thought I was going to run mad.
