He came to this world as an outsider; and spent his days in a nightmare in the past. But even then, he held hope in his heart until his wish was one day granted, and he met the real protagonist of this world.
Suddenly, he found himself gradually transforming from a mere spectator to a member of the play, accepted by those around him.
Yet he knows that he mustn't stay for too long. Since to accomplish his ultimate goal, he must one day die.
Unwilling, she asked him.
"...do you really think your life is that worthless?"
"In the grand scheme of things... yes."
"...to us you're not."
"Thank you, Ms. Vertin."

Author's note:
A Reverse: 1999 fanfic!
No, Vertin is not a romantic interest. She's 16 for god's sake.
I'm trying to make a story with drama for the first time so bear with me here, okay?
Although I am the author, I can still leave a review, don't I? Writing Quality: 4 Stars (Has some repetitive words, sentences, and structure but otherwise good grammar.) Story Development: 3 Stars (The story has a really slow pace, focusing on the dynamics between characters and lore. Plot progression is inconsistent.) Character Design: 4 Stars (The characters in the fic act the way they are in the original game, neither divulging nor changing to cater to the author's story.) Update Stability: 5 Stars (Consistently updates one chapter per day... for now.) World Background: 4 Stars (Nothing changed in the world and lore of the fic, staying faithful to the original. Any changes that the author does or will do in the future lay within the acceptable boundaries of the game's worldbuilding — albeit rarely changed.) Overall, this fic isn't for people looking for an overbearing protagonist who knocks out enemies left and right, and takes all the girls with him — no, this fic is akin to a psychological exploration of a man wanting to forget his horrible past, fix mistakes, help the original cast of characters, and inevitably perish since he knows he's not part of this world. ...but would it really be that simple? With the new connections he made, would his new companions — Vertin and her team — really allow their friend to give up on life that easily? Heh, stay tuned.
