Emiliar curled up on the bed. All the visions of all that has happened during the day kept her eyes open and her brain racing. She thought of katrienair, how weak and pale she looked in those chains but the fact that she's alive gave her a little hope. She felt a sting in her heart as she thought of her welfare. She might still be chained or those people might have taken her away.
How did she get there in the first place?
Emiliar prayed that all was well with her best friend. In some way, she craved to see Sylvia, though she's not really familiar with her but the woman looked like a perfect mother. She loved her and she believed katrienair won't be still chained if she was here. She felt useless. She'd be locked in this place while her soul mate struggles for her life in a dark place in the demon's territory. As for Joel, she can't tell what she feels for him. The whole thing about who he is hasn't really gotten to her. He doesn't look like a demon even though he's their prince. Emiliar hates the way she thinks when she sees him. Like she gets mixed feelings when she looks into his eyes. One of hatred, for some reason she can't point out or even justify, one of irritation, well he lacks sense of humor, one of jealousy, he looks too perfect and the last one she hates to admit, love. When she sees him, she always wish to hold his hands, touch his face, feel his hair, touch his chest and slap his cheeks but no, he's an idiot and he's Katrienair's friend. The thought of all these kept her brain racing all through the night.
The next morning, Julian was woken up by the footsteps of his maids. They've started their job so early without waking him up. He was grateful to himself the he had locked Katrienair's room the night before. He sat up straight in bed, a slight ache on the right side of his temple. He stretched a little and walked out of bed. At the entrance of his room, he met a lady, blonde and petite, had the maids uniform on. She curtsied at the sight him.
" Your highness. " She said. She was lean and frail. She had a badge on her gown that identifies her as a senior maid. " Good morning, I hope you slept well. "
Julian nodded his head still giving her a questioning look.
"I'm the senior maid, your highness. What would you like us to do for you?"
She looked scared or rather nervous and that irritated Julian. He hates slavery or servitude.
" Nothing. I'll do things myself. Tell the others to clean up and leave. "
Eleena felt dejected. It's strange. In her years of service to this Kingdom she has never heard this kind of statement from a prince. Since Julian came back she's notice some strange things about him but this just cleared her doubt. He's different—he's changed and that's something to worry about. The night before she heard him talking to himself —she tried to erase the thought that someone was in the room with him from her mind and this morning a room was locked up, not to be cleaned. All these made her curious. Well, it's non of her business since no one cares about her opinion here.
" Your highness, we can't do just that. His majesty would not be pleased. We promise to serve you well, your highness. " She swallowed, the thought that they might have done something wrong hitting her. " or have we done something wrong? "
Julian shook his head. " No, just leave for now. I'll send for you when I need you. "
Eleena hesitated.
"Leave! " He yelled at her and she ran out issuing commands to the others.
Julian rubbed his temple with the back of his hand and sighed. Just as he was about to walk back to his bed, he heard another knock. He saw a familiar face.
Ishan was wearing a military attire with a sword on his left side. He looked taller, stronger, and even more dangerous wearing these clothes. He looked more like a soldier than the way he looked the night before.
" Your highness. " he bowed. " The king wants to see you in his private chamber now. "
"I'll be there in a jiffy. " he shut the door, had a short bath and walked out.
The private chamber was a large room with a throne and three smaller chairs surrounding it. It's meant for holding the king's private meetings. Roger sat on the throne in his royal attire, his crown on his head.
Julian studied his face, he was still the most beautiful creature on earth, the face he's grown to love as a child. That face he loved to smile at but now he wished he could make it all disappear. A man sat on the other chair right beside his father, his chief counsellor.
" Good day father. " He said as he sat on a chair.
Roger grinned. " You've forgotten how to greet your father Julian. "
" Maybe I've been gone for so long huh " He replied fearlessly.
" You're not justified. " Roger decided to ignore him.
"Kelgron, read out the first issue to be discussed. "
" Your majesty. " Kelgron cleared his throat. "Our territory is being invaded by some beings from other covens. Two ladies perceived to be spies from the white coven were found in our territory yesterday. One escaped but would surely be found. It's a sign, your highness. A sign of war. The white coven might be planning something against us and we need to act fast and first. "
" A sign? How do you conclude that? " Julian challenged.
" The first lady killed two of our men before she was finally caught hold of. She was just too powerful. The second escaped from the chains. Its glaring enough that the white coven has sent two powerful beings to ignite a war here. "
"We are still not sure if there were sent or not. Kelgron, you can't just go around making conclusion without proven facts. " His voice was getting harsh and Kelgron was ready to argue.
The king who have been quiet all these while spoke : " Julian, what do you propose? "
"Interrogation. Get those ladies to talk. Ask them what they've come to do and who sent them"
