Imagine waking up in a stranger’s body, only to discover you’re married to a hot MILF who despises you. That’s Aric Lawson’s reality when he awakens as Vayne Arkwright—a disgraced noble whose sins have left Ashwick in ruins and his wife, Seraphina, seething with hatred. To make matters worse, Vayne’s memories are gone due to amnesia, leaving Aric clueless about this world of magic, betrayal, and debauchery. His sole guide is Ivy, a sarcastic, self-aware system who offers no quests or clear direction—just cryptic advice and sarcasm.
Trapped in a body tied to a legacy of cruelty, addiction, and corruption, Aric must navigate a broken marriage, treacherous politics, rebuild crumbling cities, and win back the trust of those Vayne wronged—all while grappling with the lingering guilt of inherited sins. With no easy answers, Aric faces an impossible journey: redeeming himself in a life not his own while resisting the darkness within Vayne’s essence. It’s a messy, infuriating start.
It's a really good book, everything is well thought of an executed. The writing, descriptions and characters are well made, makes it feel so real
I have progressed through first five chapters and have added it in my collection. The story has a wonderful setting that's rich and detailed, making it easy to picture the world. The characters feel real and their emotions add depth to the story (especially Aric's view of Ivy). The conversations are interesting and meaningful. Overall, the chapters so far are engaging and leaves us readers curious to see what happens next. I have high hopes for the next chapters! :D
I think the story is good. The pain of the MC is felt by the readers as if it's their own. The personality of the characters are also unique. I'll just hope the MC gets a good ending. either leaving that he'll and living life peacefully or get together with apology and forgiveness. (it's just my opinion, a preference.)
Love it. Compliments from your Insta, Shirobaxy, and with a cup of tea.
