Now months have already gone by and I was getting used to the school and some other things, but asides all this me and Darren were actually best of buds and I could tell that Jethro was not taking this funny at all. One cool weekend I got invited to Darren's house for his Mom's birthday party and I was very amazed to see Ammie in attendance.
Jackson: hey bro, thanks for inviting me for this
Darren: well it was my mom's idea and not mine though, but thanks again for coming
Jackson: could you excuse me for a bit, I need to talk to Ammie
Darren: alright fine bro
Jackson: hi
Ammie: hi
Jackson: I'm sorry if I startled you
Ammie: there's no problem, most times I ask myself why I easily get startled
Both chuckles…
Jackson: So you stay somewhere close by?
Ammie: yes, that's my house next door
Jackson: wow it is so beautiful
Ammie: Would you like to come sometime?
Jackson: that would be great, we'd do something more of a study session
Ammie: you know you are way funnier than I thought
Jackson: really?
Ammie: yes, hasn't anyone told you that you are funny?
Jackson: I don't think so
Ammie: So what makes you one of the most hated kid to Narcho and Sally?
Jackson: I honestly have no idea of anything I did wrong to them both
Ammie: I think it is because you are special
Jackson: special!!!!!
Ammie: sometimes people don't know the gift you have until there's a cause for a situation. Speaking of the situation, what about your friend, Jethro?
At this point I had zero clue of what I was going to tell her as my excuse, so as I was about to drop my first line of lie, I just saw Jethro walking inside looking a lot different.
Jethro: well I guess you really didn't give me the benefit of the doubt
Jackson: sorry about that, I was just about to call you but I completely got carried away
Ammie: hi Jethro
Jethro: Hello, how are you doing?
Ammie: I think I'm good
One of the things I noticed with Jethro was that he wasn't looking really well; he looked like he had just come out from a desert and was in search of food. Everything became weird in this party when I saw the guest and Darren's parents leaving the party allowing just the 4 of us to remain.
Darren: now guys, there's something I was needing to talk to you all about
Ammie:
Jethro: don't say it now
Jackson:
Darren: no. I have too
Jethro: Then in that case I wouldn't be here to see someone get a mental breakdown.
Ammie: what is going on?
Darren: it's going to be okay
Ammie:
Darren: it is going to be okay just like I said
Ammie: what is all this? If this is some kind of play, then I think I want to leave right now
Darren: no one is going anywhere
Jethro: Could you chill?
Darren: no, they must listen to me
Ammie:
Jackson: I think that is enough, we will be on our way now.
Darren: like I said no one is going anywhere. Jackson, you know that you practically owe me everything, so listen to what I have to say.
Ammie: What are you even going to say that is so important?
Darren: well, I am know as a Hell Bringer and for centuries my kind has been In power until the arrival of your ancestors Ammie, your ancestors created the DUNE TOMB where they made some enchantments and kept my people prisoners and now I have come to take over that void, but you are the last surviving blood of the Dragon, only you have the power to open up the DUNE TOMB.
Ammie: please I have nothing to do and I don't even know anything about my own ancestors
Darren: don't worry; I was going to take the key out of you
Ammie: please don't do anything that would make things worse
Darren: you are in no position to do so
Jackson: that's it, we are leaving here
Just as I was about to walk out, even my own so called friend stopped me
Jethro: I was trying to make you see this light much earlier but you wouldn't listen
Ammie:
Darren: shut up
Just then Darren's father walks right in
Mr. Flinch: hello Jackson
Mr. Flinch: It is quite of course a delight to see you in my home and you too Ammie. Just like what Darren said, I need your key but I am not going to take it now because I have a reputation at stake. As you all know, by next week I will be campaigning for the town mayor, so that opportunity would help me get rid of so many things.
Ammie: what do you think you are going to do?
Mr. Flinch:
Jackson: At what cost?
Mr. Flinch: that is such a good question
Mr. Flinch: at the expense of you joining us my boy
Now this sounds completely weird to me because I know I don't have any desire for powers or something and they are so enthusiastic about me joining them.
Jackson: What is so special in me that would make you need someone like me?
Mr. Flinch: with time you will find out, but for now you both are free to leave, but don't say I did not tell you
Now for weeks and days, Ammie never showed up to class and I did everything in my power to avoid Darren and Jethro because I couldn't believe that my own friend would actually betray me. Everest got so worried for Ammie that he told me that he wanted to know where she lived, but due to the fact I never liked anything about that kid, I kept it all to myself and told him I didn't know. For some reasons, I had a suspicion towards Sally that she might be or know something about Darren based on their conversation I heard last month.
I took it upon myself to try and investigate this issue with Sally and find out more, but in the meantime I planned on visiting Ammie after school. On my way home from school that day, I saw Mr. Flinch's car pass me by and all I remember was seeing the devilish smile that emanated from his jaw lines.
Jackson: hey Ammie, I know you're in here please come and open up
Just then the house butler comes out from inside
Butler: Hello good kid, what do you want from Ammie?
Jackson: I came to check on her, because she hasn't been in school for a while
Butler: If you don't mind, may I request your name young sir?
Jackson: my name is Jackson Brockwood
Before he could go inside, I saw Ammie walking out with a white silk dress that touched the soles of her feet. I must admit this was the prettiest side of Ammie that my eyes had beheld.
Jackson: amm ie x2
Ammie: hi jack
Jackson: you look
Ammie: sick, different, scared, unease and what else do you want to say Jack?
Jackson: beautiful
Ammie: what?
Jackson: I said you look beautiful
Ammie: thanks
Butler: Oh dear Ms. Ammie, I guess I should open up for him?
Ammie: yes, thank you
Butler: come on in young sir
Jackson: thank you sir
Ammie: let's go stay in my room
Jackson: alright
I couldn't stop marveling at the beautiful scenery of the house, it was like an ancient Camelot of Merlin, but just the castle. The water fountains are lined with incredible lights and a statue of a Phoenix to expel the water from its mouth. What kept me fascinated wasn't just the beauty of the house, but also how beautiful Ammie had gotten right in my eyes.
Ammie: my parents haven't been around ever since the first day they dropped me off at the school; I spend my days mostly in the stable at the back of the house with my house and then my nights playing chess with the butler. Let me ask our chef to make you one of my favorite dishes and please don't get formal saying you're not hungry
Jackson: thank you
We stepped into her room and it was as damn big as my living room. But the funny thing about Ammie was that when she saw me, I noticed this feeling of ease through her face, like I was someone she was expecting.
Ammie: So why'd you come to see me?
Jackson: I came to check on you, because for weeks you haven't replied to any of my texts and you haven't even stepped into class let alone walk through the gates of the school.
Ammie: Jack, I'm scared, I can't seem to forget what happened that day and every day I kept asking myself what key they are talking about
Jackson: I know that right now you are scared but I won't lie, going to school without seeing you there makes me feel so weak and the thought of someone I called my own friend betraying me really breaks me down, but what else and what more can I do, than to keep going
Ammie: if I got you correctly you are trying to say that I am your strength
Jackson: in a way kind of
Both laugh out loud…
Ammie: well I don't actually believe that I could be someone's strength when I don't even have the strength to face my own fears
Jackson: Is that what you think?
Ammie: Jack, could I tell you something?
Jackson: yes, go on
Ammie: I am scared, I don't want to die, let alone lose you
At this point I was so confused but still happy when I heard 'lose you'
Jackson: well you're not going to lose me, that's a promise
Ammie: thank you, this really means a lot to me.
Jackson: anytime, so I think our next step is to try and take them down
Ammie: Are you kidding?
Jackson: I know it sounds funny, but we can't continue to crawl in their shadows, Ammie, please I need you to summon every courage you have and stand with me. I can't forgive myself because for the first time that day I saw your happy face turn to a face and a heart full of fear and that was one of the things that really got me weak and guilty.
Ammie: don't worry about that, at least you're here now and I need you here more with me
Jackson:
Ammie: What about your family?
Jackson: well my dad died when I was still a kid and my mom's working as a nurse in the town's hospital
Ammie: I'm so sorry about your dad
Jackson: it's alright; he was like my only best friend, until I met Jethro. Jethro really seemed good and okay but I never knew that he could turn out to be something different and someone could hurt me.
Ammie: I still believe that there is a good in Jethro somewhere but because of pressures he is trying his best to avoid it
Jackson: yeah, I think so
Just then, her Chef walks in with the food and then serves us and leaves
Jackson: What is this?
Ammie: it is my favorite and I guess one day you will cook this for me
Jackson: spits his water
Ammie: I'm so sorry
Jackson: no, it's alright
Ammie: could I tell you something, but it is going to be a whisper?
Jackson: alright
As I came too close to listen to what she was about to tell me, I felt a cold sensation of a soft lip joining my cheek like some glue.
Jackson:
Ammie: I love you
Jackson: I love you too
