So Ammie made me spend the night at hers and the next morning we would go to school together, so my only grace was that I had already called my mom telling her that I won't be around because I was doing a sleepover at a friend's. As expected she got up in the morning and came to where I laid and placed her head on my chest; I felt such sensation, I awoke and smiled at her but knew that we didn't do anything. Now that we awoke, it was time for us to get ready for school.
So after everything was done, when we arrived at the gates of her mansion she was already shivering with cold because just opposite her house was Darren's, but I told her not to get scared after all she's in her car and that we would reach school safely. After the drive we got to school and I guess that so many humans were so happy to see her in school and that was where even her friend Sally jumped to hug her.
Sally: How are you doing?
Ammie: I am fine, thanks
Sally: I really missed you; it's good to have you back in class
Everest: hi
Ammie: hi
Everest: I was asking for your whereabouts but Jackson told me he doesn't know where you live.
Ammie:
Everest: ????
Ammie: I don't think he knows anyways but I haven't told anyone where I live
Everest to Sally: what are we going to do for all the notes that she missed and the explanation
Jackson: don't worry I got everything under control, because I've updated her notes
Sally: that is so kind of you
Jackson: yeah
Darren: oh welcome back dear Ammie
Ammie:
At this instance you could literally see the intensity of Ammie's fear pouring out her body and I'm pretty sure that her heart was beating faster than that of a normal kid. I did my best to hold her hands but it was like the shock became worse when he actually placed his hands on her shoulders, she just bolted out of the class and off to the girl's restroom. She stayed there for like a few minutes and then I followed after her but on getting there she was crying so intensely.
Behind the toilet doors
Jackson: Hey Ammie?
Ammie: this is why I never wanted to come back because I knew I would always be frightened by just staring at him; I knew this wasn't a good idea
Jackson: Ammie, I'm here with you always remember that
Ammie: I know you are but let us face facts, your own friend choked you nearly to death that day and you couldn't do anything. These people aren't ordinary like me and you; they are some kind of special beings and there is no way you are going to hurt them, let us just accept that fact
Jackson: I know, but we can't continue to show our fears and weaknesses to those guys because they feel they have some kind of magic abilities or something of that sort
Ammie: I was scared that day, not because of me, but because of you. I thought I was going to lose you that day even though I hadn't made my feelings known to you back then
Jackson: it's alright, if you want to keep crying in a toilet, you are very much free too but as for me I won't sit back and watch someone intimidate you anymore.
Ammie: Jack, Jack, Jack
I ran off to do my best just trying to confront Darren because I was certainly tired of what he was doing.
Jackson: hey Darren
Darren: what?
Jackson: meet me outside now
Darren: What do you think you want to do?
Class gets focused on our session; this wasn't what I had in mind but what are the odds that I would beat this guy?
We stepped outside and all I could remember seeing was the look of disappointment from Jethro's face. I charged for Darren but that was when I got knocked down and everyone kept laughing, I was so beaten to the point I couldn't stand up and all I could here were the chants; "LOSER"
Definitely this was the most embarrassing moment of my life because I just couldn't do anything, just then I felt a hand coming to pick me up and this was no one other than Sally, for a minute there I was shocked and knowing my state I just allowed her to help me up. I was rushed and dropped off at my house by our bus driver and never did I see or hear from Ammie ever since then.
Weeks had passed and still no calls because I was completely broken in the house as I couldn't leave and mom kept taking leaves because of me. Now, I still wonder why I stuck my neck out for someone who I love and up till now she hasn't even called or texted. The weeks grew more depressing but today seems like I had a visitor.
Knocks at the door….
Mom: oh hi there, come on in, I'll show you to his room
Opening my door was none other than Jethro
Mom: I will leave you two to get along, while I go make some ginger biscuits
Jethro: thank you ma'am
Jackson: What do you want now?
Jethro: I came to check on you
Jackson: if you had killed me that day or your friend killed me too, would there be any me to check up on?
Jethro: look I'm sorry about that day, but this is what I tried telling you the first day you decided to associate with Darren
Jackson: Well why didn't you do so?
Jethro: Please be honest to yourself, how many times did we actually get to sit down together and play as friends since he came into that school? When was the last time you called me? When was the last time we went home together? Now you are telling me I could have told you
Jackson: So what has this got to do with you working with him?
Jethro: I don't work for him, it's my destiny to be under him, he is the HELL BRINGER and I am his cub, till he leaves this earth, I will remain under him unless
Jackson: Unless what?
Jethro: nevermind, but the truth is that ever since that day, I felt so guilty to you and that's why you see that I never really came close to you in school
Jackson: I don't know what to tell you, but you can see that I am practically paralyzed and I can't do anything again other than sleeping, eating period
Jethro: I will leave right after your mom serves me the biscuits, I don't want to disrespect her by not eating
Jackson: alright
Jethro: What about your new girlfriend?
Jackson: who
Jethro: Ammie
Jackson: Who told you that she is my girlfriend?
Jethro: well I don't think I have to tell you that
Jackson:
Jethro: for a friend, never
Jackson: So how has school been?
Jethro: quite cool, at least for now Narcho no longer disturbs like he does
Jackson:
Jethro: Sally actually told me that she would love to stop by and see you
Jackson: Wow, Sally?
Jethro: yes, she told me she would call me to find the place
Jackson: When did you and she become such great friends that she even has your number?
Jethro: well I can say it is just luck
Jackson: alright
Right then mom steps in with the ginger biscuit and some fresh lemonade
Mom: here you go boys
Boys: thank you
Mom immediately leaves to check who was at the door as soon as the bell rang and at the door was Sally, who my mom thought was my girlfriend because she is the first girl that has checked on me in a very long time.
Mom: wow, come in dear
Sally: thanks ma'am, is Jackson home?
Mom: yes he is and he is with a friend upstairs
Sally: alright
Mom: let me take you to his room
They both left the sitting room to my room and the excitement at which Sally used to approach me is what I consider to be very strange to me, but what can I say, I just had to smile and exchange pleasantries with her.
Sally: How are you doing Jack?
Jackson: I am much better, thanks for the concern
Sally: look Jack, I know I wasn't one of the nicest to you, but I am so sorry about that and I promise to change
Jackson: wow, thank you that means a lot to me right now
Jethro: alright then, I will take my leave now and leave you both to enjoy yourselves
Now that is just great, Jethro is leaving us behind like some kind of ghost, I really appreciate his time but what would I be doing with Sally right now?
Sally: So how was it?
Jackson: How was what?
Sally: the beating
Jackson: well that came in so hard for me to expect
Sally: honestly Jack, I was scared for you because I thought it was the end for you
Jackson: Could I ask you a question?
Sally: yeah, sure you can
Jackson: Why the sudden change of heart all of a sudden?
Sally: I was just scared when you couldn't wake up and it was at that point in time I realized that you were very important to us all. But a quick one, what made you want to confront Darren?
Jackson: Well I guess I just wanted to be courageous because I felt like he was being a bully.
Sally: Bully you say?
Jackson: yes
Sally: why didn't you go to confront or tackle down Narcho and Everest when they were being jerks on you?
Jackson:
Sally: alright Jackie if you say so
Jackson: So what are your plans?
Sally: well to stay here and help you till you heal up
Jackson: I don't think that is necessary at all
Sally: I insist dear Jackie
Meanwhile, downstairs mom and Jethro had a long discussion of what was happening to me in school.
Mom: What is going on with my boy?
Jethro: everything is fine ma'am
Mom: please can you tell me who the kid that did this to my sweet boy is
Jethro:
Mom: I see you are his best friend, so can you do me a favor please?
Jethro: alright ma'am, anything for him, but please stop crying please
Mom: Jackie has always been a sweet boy and please I don't want anything to happen to him, he has gone through a lot after losing his dad, so please promise me that you would take care of my boy please
Jethro: I promise you ma'am
So that was literally it. Jethro promised to stay as my personal guide but trust someone like me, I would love to stand by myself because I always questioned his loyalty since I knew what he was to Darren. Funny enough, I was so surprised that Sally would come to my house everyday to check on me and see how I was doing; I must admit I started liking her though
Now, I decided to face my fears and return back to school and avoid everything that had to do with Darren unless I had a plan to take him and his family down, which sounds stupidly impossible right?
Everyone applauds as I take my bold step into the classroom
Student: welcome back Jack
Student: it is so good to see you bro
Everest: welcome home buddy, we really missed you
All the compliments and wishes made me happy because it showed me that I was so important to the class, but what spoiled my day was when I saw Ammie and she saw me. I just got really upset and walked right to my seat, which was behind her.
Ammie: hi Jack
Jackson: yeah Ammie
Ammie: how are you feeling?
Jackson: Do you really want to know?
Ammie: yes please
Jackson: I feel so stupid and do you want to know why? Because the person I was doing everything for never even for a day called to check on me or even came to my house or replied any of my texts and here you are asking how I am doing, were you expecting to hear that I am dead or I can't come back to school due to one issue or another
Ammie: wait Jack please if you would let me I can explain
Jackson: What do you want to explain, please could you keep your sob story to yourself?
Ammie: please I love you
Jackson: I thought you did, please I need to keep my head focused, I have so much to handle that doesn't have the name Ammie
Ammie: that's fine Jack
The absolute worst part was that I still love Ammie so much and I was just too upset to see that. Now the periods have gone and that was where I got a call from Mr. Miguel to meet him in his office and we all disappointment I went to meet him.
Mr. Miguel: Hello Jackson?
Jackson: Good day Sir
Mr. Miguel: How are you doing now?
Jackson: I am doing great Sir
Mr. Miguel: I was surprised that you went head to head with that boy Darren
Jackson: yeah
Mr. Miguel: So if I may ask, what really transpired between you two?
Jackson: well nothing much Sir, only that I was just upset with what he did to me over the weekend, but it is all good now Sir
Mr. Miguel: alright if you say so, but have you heard about the history of this town?
Jackson: no, what happened to the town?
Mr. Miguel: that is a research you should try and conduct on your own, try meeting Everest his mom is a historian and I guess you could pick one or two things from there
I don't know why this man was so focused on making me understand the history of this town but anyway I never could be sure of anything again, I actually planned on going to Everest this weekend to know more about this town. Meanwhile, I was just too upset that I stopped remembering Ammie as I used to. So what was the way forward from all of this I thought to myself, I could see Ammie feeling bad in class and not being able to talk to me, but I never cared and that was when Sally became way too nice than before. Sally always made sure she was at my corner to assist me in everything I wanted to do. I won't deny it, she did a pretty good job at making me laugh a lot and she never looked towards Ammie, remembering that Ammie was into me.
For facts, this weekend was going to be dreaded because I just had exactly the right notion of how I wanted it to go and I told mom that I would do a sleepover at a friend's but she got a bit skeptical about it recalling the previous incidence that had happened to me in school and she didn't want to say more but she knew that if she refused, I wouldn't be happy, so I got my things all set when I was about to burst out from the door, I got a call from Ammie but as arrogant as I could get, I ignored it and left for my next big adventure which was to read the history of this town. For some time, I couldn't find the old creepy lady that always told me those weird things when I passed coming back from school on my first day. This was really freaking me out and each time I would pass her house, there's always someone staring up from the windows but I felt maybe it could be her; it isn't easy to lose your loved ones and still try to act normal, even if you are so tough.
