This hospital belongs to the Landon family. I never suspected he would tamper with my surgery.
Through the thin door, I could hear a heated argument inside.
Panicking, I tried to escape but accidentally fell out of my wheelchair.
The door creaked open.
Asher stood there, his phone still lit up.
A flicker of sympathy crossed his face, so similar to Landon's. He crouched down and lifted me back into the wheelchair:
"Let me do your surgery, okay?"
At first I thought Asher was lying, until I successfully completed the leg surgery and realized Asher was one of the good guys.
Coincidentally, Landon showed up the day after my surgery.
He didn't seem to know about my operation.
I was rubbing my leg when Landon instinctively took hold of it: "Is your leg hurting again?"
I felt dazed. I hadn't seen Landon this gentle and caring since that incident happened.
I pushed his hand away and pulled the blanket over my legs:
"Did you need something?"
Perhaps I was too cold and distant, as Landon looked at me with a hint of hurt in his eyes.
"Melody, I was wrong. Please don't be angry anymore, okay?"
"I'm here to take you home.""These days, I've arranged for someone to set up special disability equipment for you at home. You'll be able to live just as comfortably as before when you're there."
Landon stood by my hospital bed, pulling out the wheelchair from the corner.
Without giving me a chance to resist, he bent down, lifted me up, and placed me in the wheelchair. As he pushed me forward, he explained how he had prepared everything for me at my house.
I felt like laughing. If I hadn't seen Luna's recent social media posts, I might have believed him. I might have even been touched by his words.
I didn't resist because I genuinely needed some time to recuperate, and the Channing family home was the best place for that.
However, I never expected to encounter another person at the Channing family residence.
When we arrived home, I immediately spotted Luna standing at the entrance, waiting.
I had never met Luna before; I'd only heard her name mentioned by Landon's mother.
Landon's mother said Luna and I were nothing alike. She described me as a red rose, while Luna was a gardenia.
One passionate and alluring, the other quiet and pure.
But she didn't like that gardenia, because she believed Luna was only getting close to Landon to secure a spot in the study abroad program at the time.Landon was unaware of this situation.
I never mentioned it, as I didn't want to meddle in their relationship.
I just never expected that the first thing Luna would do upon her return was to hurt me, and even deceive Landon again.
And Landon, like an idiot, was being played.
"Sister Melody, thank you for forgiving me for that incident."
"What happened then was my fault, but I really didn't let them torment you. I just wanted to see you, to talk to you. They acted on their own! I..."
Luna leaned in with an innocent face, holding my hand and continually explaining.
But I didn't hear a word of it.
"When did I ever forgive you?"
I thought of the letter of understanding Landon had mentioned earlier and turned to look at him.
So that's how it was. He had forged my letter of understanding.
Landon, feeling guilty, separated Luna and me, pushing me into the room.
Luna obediently followed behind Landon.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw their hands tightly clasped together.
It wasn't until I got home that I realized Landon's so-called environment for the disabled was nothing more than letting me live in a storage room in the corner of the first floor.
