Chapter 3

When Chase slapped me for her sake, he shattered the bond we'd built over the years.

"Darling, this is all because you insisted on forcing Felicity to leave the hospital," he said.

"I had no choice but to bring her here to rest."

"Why did you come here instead of going home?" Chase asked, puzzled.

He showed no remorse towards me, even though my face still bore the mark of the slap he'd given me earlier that day.

I shot them a cold glance, then started throwing Felicity's belongings out.

"What are you doing?" Chase exploded in anger.

He felt I was once again challenging his limits, and in front of his pure love, no less.

"Get out," I said.

I felt a wave of nausea.

The thought that my house had been entered by this pair of cheaters made me want to throw out everything in the room.

"Chase, honey..." Felicity whimpered like a frightened little bunny.

Her sugary voice snapped Chase back to reality.

His face darkened as he told me not to make a scene.

"If you hadn't insisted on Felicity leaving the hospital, I wouldn't have brought her here at all.""She just had surgery and needs rest, darling. Are you really going to be this heartless?"

Is Chase blinded by his pure love?

A cervical polyp removal is just a minor procedure.

Even if she needs rest, it's not his place to take care of her.

"Don't forget, you're a married man!"

"Dr. Westwood, don't be jealous. There's really nothing between Chase and me."

Felicity feigns weakness as she tries to get up. She pleads with Chase not to be upset with me, stumbling as she attempts to leave.

Any clear-headed person could see through her act, but Chase falls for it hook, line, and sinker.

He tenderly supports her, while shooting daggers at me with his eyes.

"Darling, if you keep acting so unreasonably, I..."

"Let's get a divorce!"

I cut him off before he could finish.

Chase is stunned. A flash of excitement crosses Felicity's face.

But I couldn't care less about their reactions.

Five years of my heartfelt devotion, and this is how it ends.

I find it laughable.

"Are you sure?Chase felt his pride had been stomped into the ground and thoroughly trampled by me.

His forehead pulsed with anger as he held Felicity even tighter.

I kept my face cold, already too tired to deal with him.

He glared at me furiously, embracing Felicity as they walked away. "You'll regret this!"

Regret?

I laughed.

I'm afraid the one who'll end up regretting won't be me, but him.

Because of his "pure love," Chase and I had completely fallen out.

In the past, no matter how angry he got, he would always make up with me first.

When did things start to change?

From the moment he became Deputy Chief of Staff... he was no longer the person I first knew.

News of what happened between Chase and me spread through the hospital.

Since Chase was the Deputy Chief of Staff, everyone was cautious and didn't dare to gossip openly.

But I could clearly sense the looks of pity in my colleagues' eyes.

Some even couldn't help but ask, "Dr. Westwood, are you okay?"

I responded with a smile, saying I was fine.

However, this calm was instantly shattered when Felicity's mother arrived."Who's Scarlett?"

"That unethical doctor nearly killed my daughter."
