Emily’s grip tightened on her glass, memories of Nicholas's accusations surfacing. She recalled him once hinting that Oliver had feelings for her, though she had brushed it off as paranoia.

They had been friends for years—if Oliver had any feelings for her, he would've said something long before she got married. She dismissed the idea almost immediately. She took a breath, keeping her tone light, "No. It’s just a fragile truce, nothing more."

The silence between them was brief, but heavy. Then, out of nowhere, Oliver leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "If you're serious about separating, I know a great divorce lawyer. I can put you in touch."

Before she could respond, a sharp, cold voice cut through the air from behind them. "That's not your concern. Emily and I can handle our own matters."

Emily’s heart sank as she recognized Nicholas’s voice. He was striding toward them, his gaze icy, his presence radiating tension.
