“You… agreed to the divorce?” she asked, astonished.
Nicholas’s gaze was cold, his expression unreadable.
“Yes. I’ve already signed. Once you sign, I’ll have Noah notarize it. At the latest, we should have the divorce certificate within a week.”
Emily hesitated, surprised by his sudden change. “But… your leg isn’t fully healed yet.”
“The doctor said I’ll be walking within a week,” he replied, his tone indifferent.
Emily didn’t respond right away. A dull ache spread in her chest as she took the papers and flipped to the last page.
Her fingers tightened around the pen. The time they’d spent together recently had softened her feelings toward him, leaving her unsure if she truly wanted this anymore. Yet she knew staying together would likely lead them back to the same unhappiness.
Resolutely, she signed her name, then put down the pen. She looked up at Nicholas. “Just mail the divorce certificate when it’s ready.”
“Alright.”
