Chapter 81

Nicholas frowned, his voice cool. “If this is about what’s happening online, then you should go home. I’m not getting involved.”

Tears fell down Maria’s face, revealing her frustration. “Nicholas, I don’t know where else to turn. And you wouldn’t want to see Emily completely at odds with the White family, would you?”

Nicholas looked at Maria with an icy expression, his patience clearly worn thin.

"Maria, this situation is a consequence of your family's actions. You and your mother escalated things by attacking Emily publicly. Now that you’re facing backlash, you expect me to fix it?"

Maria bit her lip, realizing that Nicholas wasn’t as easily manipulated as before.

"Nicholas, I know it may seem that way, but we’re family. Emily won’t listen to me or Mother now, and if she pushes this any further, the financial fallout could be severe for everyone involved. Isn’t there anything you can do to keep this from spiraling further?"
