Chapter 99 – A Miracle in the Tower

"A miracle... I can't believe you actually succeeded!"

The Tower Master looked completely stunned, as if he couldn't believe what he was witnessing.

After all, since the establishment of the Grimoire Tower, this was the very first time someone who had already received a grimoire had been able to get another one.

"It's definitely a miracle, but more than miracles, I trust my own judgment..."

With a smile still on his face, Ethan was now confident that his theory was correct.

He still believed that everyone only gets one chance in life to receive a grimoire—

But that was only because every person was believed to have only one attribute.

He, however, had already possessed both wind and fire attributes and thus received two grimoires.

So, using the same logic:

Now that he had other attributes too, it stood to reason he could receive even more grimoires.

"Let's go again!"

Placing the grimoire in his hand down on the ground, Ethan shifted his internal energy once more—

This time, he chose Light.

Buzz!

Within just ten seconds, the Grimoire Tower responded once again.

A grimoire bathed in golden light flew out from the bookshelf.

"That's the second one!"

The Tower Master exclaimed again, astonished.

Clearly, this wasn't a fluke. Ethan really was capable of breaking all the rules.

Reaching out, Ethan caught the grimoire floating toward him.

But just like the last one—

There were no markings on it.

"Strange..."

He shook his head, puzzled.

Still, the magic power it contained was no weaker than any other three-leaf grimoire.

In fact, it might even rival the two four-leaf grimoires he had received earlier.

"Whatever... Grimoires come in all shapes and sizes. No markings doesn't really mean anything..."

Ethan decided not to dwell on it.

What mattered most now was to get as many grimoires as possible!

As he continued to cycle through his magic attributes, grimoires continued to fly from the shelves one by one.

At first, the Tower Master was stunned with every new one.

But eventually, he grew calm, watching it all happen like it was a normal occurrence.

He counted.

203 grimoires.

That's how many had floated down for Ethan so far.

A number that surpassed even some full-scale Grimoire Granting Ceremonies.

And they were all for one person.

"Looks like that's all of them..."

Ethan muttered as he looked around.

The Tower Master twitched at the corner of his mouth.

He still looked like he hadn't had enough?

Was this kid trying to empty the entire tower?

Well, Ethan had considered it.

But he also knew it wasn't possible.

Magic came in endless forms.

There were no limits to the attributes—only to imagination.

Still, even if he could transform into any element, he first had to know of that element's existence.

These 203 grimoires represented the 203 magical attributes Ethan currently understood.

Besides the wind and fire he originally had, all the others came from the knowledge he gained through members of various squads—

Just like how he had once sought to learn the Wizard King's time magic.

If he didn't know it, he couldn't transform into it.

Plain and simple.

"Speaking of which... I almost forgot about time magic."

Taking a deep breath, Ethan shifted his inner energy again—this time toward the Time attribute.

He was curious to see what a time-based grimoire would look like.

Would it be like Julius's? A grimoire without a cover, looking absolutely divine?

Whoosh...

Seeing Ethan go quiet again, the Tower Master blinked in surprise.

Wait... did this guy still have more attributes he hadn't claimed a grimoire for?

Good grief. Was he really planning to empty the tower?

1 second... 10 seconds... a full minute passed.

The atmosphere turned... awkward.

The time attribute grimoire never appeared.

It was as if it didn't even exist.

Ethan opened his eyes, frowning.

Based on how things had gone so far, this should not have happened.

"Hey, old man—uh, Tower Master," Ethan corrected himself, "can I ask—Julius, the Wizard King—did he get his grimoire from here?"

He had a theory now. Only two possibilities remained:

Either Julius didn't get his grimoire from here,

Or the time attribute grimoire was unique—one of a kind.

"Julius? Wait—don't tell me... just now you were trying to get the time grimoire?"

The Tower Master looked surprised.

Did Ethan actually possess time magic as well?

Had he been trying to get that grimoire?

"Yes. Julius did get his grimoire here. I remember it clearly—it gave me quite a scare at the time.

His grimoire wasn't a four-leaf, but it was clear that the era chose him, or maybe it was fate."

Era? Fate?

What was this guy even saying?

"Time magic is a very special attribute. Since the founding of the Grimoire Tower, I've only ever seen three people possess it.

Each of them carried some kind of destiny they had to fulfill."

The Tower Master's expression turned nostalgic, filled with memory and melancholy.

That made Ethan blink in surprise.

"Uh... how old are you, exactly?" he asked.

Because if he remembered correctly, from the first Wizard King to Julius, only Julius had ever used time magic.

And now this old man was saying he'd seen three?

"I don't remember anymore. Time is a blurry concept..."

The Tower Master shook his head, as if he didn't want to say more.

Then, he summoned his magic carpet and floated onto it.

"The time attribute grimoire is unique.

Until its current wielder finishes their mission, it will not appear again within this tower.

I don't know how you suddenly gained so many magical attributes, not even time magic…

But take my advice:

Use the limited time you have to grow stronger—

or else... it might be too late."

With that, the Tower Master soared up and vanished.

Ethan scratched his head and blinked, utterly bewildered.

Still, it was clear the old guy knew a lot.

Far more than he had ever let on.

"Oh well. If it's not here, it's not here. I've already got enough."

Looking at the massive pile of grimoires on the ground, Ethan chuckled.

Now, he possessed the power of over 200 different types of magic—

And each one would be no weaker than the fire and wind he originally mastered.

Only one question remained:

How the heck was he supposed to carry them all?!
