Chapter 47: Torn Feelings

Caroline nodded, finding herself wishing she was the one to go but knew she had to stay behind with Fleur and Eloise. Knowing it was not the time for her mind to be consumed with her torn feelings between Corban and Aldrick, Caroline started pacing the length of the room.

“Can I ask you something?” Fleur asked from where she sat on the bed next to Eloise, her eyes on her hands which fidgeted in her lap.

“Of course,” Caroline replied, pausing her pacing as she turned to her friend, a slight frown on her face at the solemn tone in Fleur’s voice.

“Are you scared?”

Caroline thought for a moment, “Do you mean in general or specifically about something?”

Fleur shrugged, “Both, I guess. I mean, that was pretty scary, listening to Eloise screaming out in the forest, right?”

Caroline’s eyes widened at the memory, “You can say that again. It sent chills up and down my spine.”

“So, are you scared by what it could mean?” Fleur asked again.
