Gaia Matera is no hero. He doesn’t have grand ambitions, no desire to explore the galaxy, and can’t even be bothered to step outside his quiet home at the edge of the world. His perfect life is simple: sleeping in, lazing under the sun, and occasionally putting up with the nagging of his old master, the only person who’s ever cared for him.
But everything changes when his master suddenly tells him two things: his time is almost up… and the planet they’ve called home is dying.
Gaia, ever so relaxed, jokes that he’ll follow soon after. But his master has different plans.
In one week, someone will come to take Gaia away to leave behind his house, his planet, and his idle life. A new journey begins. Not to save the world, and not to become a hero, but to answer a single, quiet question he’s long ignored:
"What is the purpose of my life?"
As Gaia steps off his dying world and into the vast unknown, he begins to realize something
The universe is far bigger, livelier, and more dangerous than anything he could have imagined. And his fate... may be more than just lying around.
