Chapter 7: I Defeated My Inner Demons by Feeding Them Dumplings

The Mirror Maze of Inner Demons was supposed to be one of the hardest parts of the Heavenly Trials. Most cultivators came out mentally shattered, sobbing, or questioning the existence of spiritual tofu.

Lin Feng, of course, was special.

Special in the "the maze wants to file a complaint" way.

Inside the Maze

Lin Feng wandered the twisting corridors of black glass. Every turn showed his reflection—except it didn't.

In one mirror, he saw himself rich and powerful, wearing divine robes and followed by fans chanting, "Almighty Master of Soup!"

In another, he saw a version of himself exploding violently after sneezing into a spirit grill.

"Okay, so that one's accurate," he muttered.

Then, the walls pulsed. Mist slithered in like steam from an angry pressure cooker.

From it, emerged… his inner demon.

It looked like Lin Feng, but cooler. Taller. With glowing eyes, six-pack abs, and a sash that said "Superior Version."

"I am the true you," Demon Lin said, swirling a blade of shadow bacon. "I am your doubt, your fear… your incompetence made manifest."

Lin Feng blinked. "So… like my evil twin?"

"Exactly."

"Do you know how to cook celestial dumplings?"

Demon Lin paused. "No?"

Lin Feng grinned. "Then prepare to be steam-fried, sucker."

Meanwhile…

Outside the mirror maze, a giant orb projected the trial for the audience.

Disciples, elders, and even Sect Leader Mo Tianyun watched as Lin Feng charged his inner demon—not with a sword, but with a plate of glowing dumplings.

"WHAT is he doing?" Elder Mu Dan asked, horrified.

"Offering snacks to his trauma," Mo Tianyun replied, sipping tea. "Unorthodox, but… interesting."

Back in the Maze

Lin Feng held out a dumpling. "Look, you seem cranky. You want to fight, but I bet you're just hangry."

Demon Lin hesitated.

Then took a bite.

Silence.

A single tear rolled down his shadow cheek. "This… this is better than vengeance."

And then he exploded into glitter.

Maze Completion Announcement

A divine voice echoed:

"You have overcome your inner demons with culinary diplomacy. Maze cleared."

A heavenly bell rang.

A portal opened to the next trial:

"Trial Two: The Cauldron of 10,000 Fires."

Lin Feng turned to his team. "Alright, squad. Bring the duck, the tiger, and at least three ladles. It's time to cook our way through tribulation!"

The duck quacked and flexed. Mr. Whiskers was already napping on a floating spoon.

In the Audience

Elder Mu Dan buried her face in her hands. "He didn't fight anything. He fed it!"

Mo Tianyun just smiled faintly. "He cultivates through chaos and cuisine. I'm starting to think… that's his Dao."
