At first, the onlookers were awestruck by the appearance of Entei. After all, in the Pokémon Adventures manga, even seeing a Legendary Beast up close is an event of enormous weight—akin to a divine visitation.

But in the blink of an eye, that majestic image cracked.

Now, with its fur standing on end and body half-turned from the pressure, Entei looked nothing like the legendary creature recorded in Sinnoh myth.

"Are you trying to tear down my gym?! Xiaoxiao, first calm your mind and retract your Psychic! Xu Fei must have more to say than just a battle request why not hear him out first?"

Seeing the pressure on the field mount to dangerous levels, Gym Leader Zhang finally stepped in, raising his voice to settle the conflict.

Chen Xiaoxiao's heart skipped a beat at the words. After a pause, she retracted her Psychic aura, but not the cold fury in her eyes now sharply focused on Xu Fei.

The moment she withdrew her power, Xu Fei felt the metaphorical boulder lift from his chest. His knees nearly buckled, his shirt clinging to his soaked back. He glanced at Leader Zhang with sincere gratitude, thinking:

"Too terrifying. No wonder the Psionics were flagged in the 107-Class Threat Index as 'Do Not Provoke.'"

That thought came with clarity had Chen Xiaoxiao acted with even a sliver more intention, Xu Fei suspected he'd be dead thirty times over.

And now, with Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes boring into him like a cold scan from a Psychic-type move, a drop of sweat slid down Xu Fei's temple. He realized: If I don't explain this right, I'm really not walking out of here alive.

"Sorry," Xu Fei said in a low voice, "I didn't explain clearly. It's about a Divine Beast sighting."

Chen Xiaoxiao's expression shifted slightly. Her eyes narrowed, their cold gleam sharpened.

"Is the information reliable?" she asked bluntly.

"Entei sensed it. I didn't see it with my own eyes," Xu Fei clarified quickly.

Chen Xiaoxiao nodded slowly.

"All right. Then I'll accept your challenge."

The atmosphere shifted. Although Xu Fei hadn't seen the beast himself, any Pokémon with Legendary status especially those like Entei who have a spiritual link to others of their kind could react to such presences.

Even if the details weren't clear, the intuition of a Legendary Pokémon was not to be taken lightly.

At the same time, Chen Xiaoxiao quietly accessed her internal system linked to her Trainer's Database to review the battle stats of Xu Fei's Pokémon.

With a dramatic scene transition, the two Trainers had already taken their positions inside the gym's central battlefield. Each stood on opposite ends, holding a Poké Ball in hand, maintaining the rule of simultaneous first sends.

This approach, often seen in high-level Trainer League matches across regions like Kanto and Hoenn, prevents either side from altering strategy based on the opponent's initial choice.

"Now beginning the official Gym Exhibition Match: Xu Fei from Nanyun Province versus Chen Xiaoxiao from Shencheng. The battle will be 3-on-3. Each Trainer may use three Pokémon in one-on-one rounds. Pokémon may not be swapped mid-round. When all three Pokémon from one side are unable to battle, the match ends. Now both Trainers, send out your first Pokémon!"

Despite the earlier tension, spectators were thrilled. Few ever saw two elite Trainers clash with full power. Gym Leader Zhang Guoxiong, now acting as referee, was fully focused.

Xu Fei rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

Still, deep down, he already knew this was the exact Togekiss he'd traded. And judging by her expression, she remembered everything.

"Togekiss, look he's still babying that Typhlosion like a child!"

Chen Xiaoxiao teased as Togekiss trembled with righteous rage.

"Let's stop talking. Referee, please start the match." Chen Xiaoxiao said firmly, eyes locked on Xu Fei.

"Begin!" Zhang Guoxiong declared, slicing the air with his hand like a Judge in the Indigo Plateau Conference.
