Felix had returned to his room and was now facing a mirror. He had taken off his sunglasses and was praying from his heart that the darkness he had been immersed in for all these years could be transformed into light. He wanted to see what he looked like, he wanted to know if he scared her or not with all his imperfections on his face. It meant so much to him to know that because Hell, she was going to sleep with him. since he had plunged into darkness, his hands had become what he saw with, but what he had never been able to see until then was his face. It was his and he was afraid of being repelled. At that moment he needed to really see her, not with his soul but with a mirror.
He still didn't know what had come over him to make such a proposition to her but he didn't want her to think he was afraid. He certainly could no longer do certain things but he was still a man capable of imposing himself and that was the message he obviously wanted to send to her.
He didn't know what state his room was in because he never felt the need to know. He didn't like curious women at all and yet something told him that this woman could be very curious. He didn't know if there were things he should hide or not and only one trusted person could help him; Hugo. He did not hesitate to dial his number which he launched.
“I will end up believing that since you have a woman in your life, you can no longer do without me."
Believing he needed advice to keep a woman by his side. Even though that was no longer the case, he knew that for a period of his life he had enjoyed it to the fullest. He never needed advice.
“I’m calling to tell you some good news. I have regained my sight and I need my eyes, NOW!"
fortunately he didn't need to explain it to him for long for him to understand. He was a very intelligent man and for three years he had been his legs and his eyesight. Just because he had a woman at home didn't mean that would change. He was the only person he trusted. In less than half an hour Hugo was in his friend's room waiting for him to tell him what he had decided to summon him for because he couldn't leave his business behind for his convenience every time . He never minded doing him a favor, but onlyever since Carmen had walked through his door, it seemed like he had a threat in his home. “So, what did you want me to come and do at your place when you could have enjoyed the good smell that invaded your apartment. It’s been exactly three years since I felt anything like this when I entered here.”
“I still hold on to my life to be able to enjoy this sort of thing. I pity the person who will sit at this woman’s table because she is evil incarnate.”
Hugo frowned, not understanding why his friend wanted to find something bad in Carmen at all costs. Until then he had yet to see what she had done and after researching her to reassure himself that Felix was not living with a woman who could suffocate him in his sleep, he had surrendered consider that Carmen and was the perfect embodiment of the true and gentle woman. She just hadn't had any luck when it came to family and he hoped his friend would realize what he had on his hands because even though it was often said that one is lost and ten are found, he didn't believe that it worked in every way and especially when God hadith a unique thing on earth. “I would like you to see if there are things I should hide.”
“Felix, I’m the only person who has access to your room and what else would you want me to hide when I already know everything about your life? You know as well as I do that I am the one who tidied this room when you moved in, that I am the one who always tidies it. What are you not telling me?"
Felix remained silent and ran his hand over his face. the second thing he wanted to ask her wasn't going to be easy to say. He ran his hands through his hair, clenching his jaw. He was afraid of coming across as a chick even though he knew his friend would never think that of him.
" How do you find me? don't be the friend who would do everything to reassure me but I want the truth. What would a woman think when she saw me? Are my scars scary?"
“I don’t understand why you would want to bring that up again, Felix. The doctors told you that this is not how you were going to get better. Has she said something mean to you again?"
“Hugo, I’m not a kid who will always come and cry in front of you when things aren’t going well. All I want is for you to tell me the truth about myself. Could I still please a woman?"
Please a woman? Hugo felt that this was already a step forward because he remained at least optimistic about women.
"who is she?" He asked with a smile that his friend couldn't see.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about and it’s none of your business. I never asked you who was the woman who spent the night in your bed during your business trips, so this doesn’t concern you.”
“I knew you were going to like it eventually. You don't need to do all your mystery because I know you won't regret. I know you won't believe me but Carmen is a young woman who won't make you regret your choice, Felix. Just treat her the way she deserves and you'll see. I know that just like you, she
is also ready to make an effort”
