The situation escapes me

After finishing cooking, Carmen felt the need to take a shower and although she could take advantage of the fact that her husband and his best friend were talking, she could take advantage of her bathroom but she didn't know what to put next. She had been sent off in marriage as if she were not living with anyone. She could even remain naked for the simple reason that Felix could not see her but this was not the case for his best friend who had his eyesight intact and would not fail to rinse his eye out.

Taking the time to think like this didn't help her at all, so she made up her mind and ran to her bathroom. When she locked herself in, she realized that it was as simple as her apartment was, it was also perfect so that she wouldn't start wondering what to do or cause any damage what could her husband notice.

The water was cold but just because her body needed it, she bathed quickly and when she finished she looked around. A clean towel was what she needed and she was still clean. She dried herself and even if she could keep the towel on her, it wasn't presentable. He was going to notice that his husband's bathrobe had moved.

Clothes were what she saw in a drawer. They were clean and since there were many of them, she said to herself that stealing a shirt from him would not be a refusal. She took a red tiled shirt and was tempted to take pants too but gave it up. One piece of clothing was enough. she finally came out of the bathroom and ran into the dining room but only froze when she was in front of the front door. The two men were already seated as if she had asked them to do so, believing that they were just waiting for that.

“The perfect woman, that’s what I see before me today and at this pace, I’m going to end up believing that I love my friend more than mysel,” said Hugo, who hadn’t taken his eyes off the silhouette of the young woman.

“What are you still talking about, Hugo? So you're never going to change in your life?"

“You would say the same thing if you could see the woman who is yours, my friend. I think I enjoyed it way too much and I wouldn’t want you to end up jealous.”

A mocking laugh escaped Felix's throat and Carmen already knew what that meant. She preferred her husband's mocking laughter a thousand times over her friend's false compliments because, throughout her life, Paula had never stopped telling her that she was fat.

“You can take it if you want but not tonight. From tomorrow morning if that suits you.”

Felix looked at his friend who obviously couldn't see his gaze and then looked at Carmen. He wanted to understand this "not tonight" thing and he knew it had something to do with the fact that he had asked her if her scarred face was disgusting. Perhaps the couple had planned something and was disturbing them.

“Am I too much? Should I leave you?"

"No!", "Yes!" The couple replied at the same time, which made Hugo smile. Carmen wanted him to stay and Felix wanted him to leave. He didn't know who to show his good faith to. His friend or his sister-in-law.

“Decide now as a united couple. Do I leave or stay?"

They heard them both breathing. He noticed there that they even had things in common and he saw that the feeling would come over time. Just a matter of time for everything to go well.

“I'm going to stay because this meal is very appetizing and I don't see myself taking refuge in a restaurant again. Thank you Felix for letting me enjoy with you."

Carmen was somewhat relieved even if it didn't take away from what she was feeling. She simply wanted to delay the inevitable because she had given her word and fortunately, Hugo was unaware of this story. He hadn't made any inappropriate remarks about her outfit, which reassured her that her husband didn't know what she was wearing. She served them both and filled her dish. She then sat down and looked at them both.

Hugo had already started his meal and yet Félix was nervous. She hoped he didn't think again that she wanted to give him poison because that man's ideas were always weird.

"You do not eat?" She asked him in her little voice.

He didn't respond and she also lost her appetite even though she was hungry. She had no problem with him being so quiet but she had a problem with his inability to get into his head to know what was going on there.

“Could you at least please him and try this meal Felix? But how can you be so hard on her."

“She’s my wife and I treat her however I want. You can enjoy your meal if you want, but don’t associate me with you."

He rolled his wheelchair back and headed out the door. He was downright angry over nothing and she was going to end up believing that that would never change. She also stood up as a solitary tear rolled down her cheek.

“I would love to hold you in my arms and tell you that everything will be okay but I can’t promise you something that I’m not sure of. I'm going to make myself a bowl and leave since the meal is of no use to you."

Hugo's last sentence made her smile but it disappeared when she heard a clearing of the throat which did not come from their host but rather from her husband who was still in front of the door. He had certainly heard what Hugo had said.

“I’m waiting for you in the room, darling.”

He then left and if her heart wanted to race, she stopped it immediately while her brain sent her an alert, presence of danger.
