After shutting off the communicator, Xiaofeng was buoyed by a surge of optimism. With the weaponry secured, the only remaining challenge was the recruitment of soldiers. Should their numbers swell into the thousands, even the Alliance forces would find themselves powerless against them.
Rais and his comrades had already begun enlisting troops, while Alice and Ivy, the two captivating beauties, stood before the barracks holding a large recruitment sign. Their efforts bore fruit as countless able-bodied men came forward to enlist.
These volunteers approached the X Mercenary Corps driven by myriad hopes—some sought merely to earn a livelihood, others yearned for the thrill of battle, and many desired retribution against the relentless oppression of the Alliance.
Despite their busy schedule and the assistance of several mercenaries, Alice and Ivy proved invaluable, having mustered several hundred recruits in a single morning—a result even Xiaofeng had not anticipated.
These men were promptly organized into a regiment, entrusted to the burly Brada and a handful of seasoned mercenaries who began structuring their ranks. Though initially somewhat unpolished, Xiaofeng was confident that, with rigorous training, this force would evolve into a formidable fighting unit.
Meanwhile, Rush's brief address to the remaining Alliance soldiers resulted in their unanimous submission to X. After all, as professional soldiers, faced with starvation and desolation in this world, their allegiance was pragmatic.
Thus, X's strength swelled to nearly a thousand combatants. Yet this sudden expansion presented Xiaofeng with a fresh predicament—the barracks no longer sufficed to house such a multitude. His solution was to convert the surrounding vacant high-rises into living quarters.
At noon, Turner arrived in Godo City accompanied by nearly two full battalions. Xiaofeng's heart swelled with joy, noting that Turner had evidently been industrious, having expanded the forces at Sanctuary 64 to this impressive scale.
With this influx, they possessed sufficient strength to repel any imminent counterattack from nearby Alliance cities. Now, all that remained was to await Hebrew's weapons delivery.
The swift and smooth progress exceeded Xiaofeng's expectations. To assemble over a thousand troops in such short order—most already bearing fledgling combat capabilities—had transformed the prospect of X establishing a foothold in Godo City from mere fantasy to an imminent reality.
Around one o'clock, colossal transport helicopters bearing four rotors each appeared abruptly in Godo City's skies. Their arrival sparked fervent speculation among the populace, but Xiaofeng's heart settled upon recognizing the emblazoned logos.
The arms of the Brohm Corporation had arrived.
Since ending communication with Xiaofeng, Hebrew had been feverishly mobilizing equipment from the Brohm branch near Godo City. He was pleased to discover that Godo City lay close to one of their clandestine factories, enabling him to coordinate the rapid airlift of most of its inventory.
As the massive helicopters touched down in the barracks' open grounds, Xiaofeng had already tasked Brada with organizing over two hundred men to offload the weaponry.
Yet the cargo included more than mere infantry armaments—several specialists disembarked, among them an older gentleman wearing spectacles who approached Xiaofeng with a firm handshake.
"Greetings, Xiaofeng," he said.
Taken aback, Xiaofeng inquired, "Who might you be?"
The man smiled warmly. "I am Mark, sent by the Victoria Corporation. This team behind me accompanies this shipment to assist you in establishing the satellite defense system."
Xiaofeng was utterly astonished. This development had not crossed his mind, but Hebrew had evidently anticipated it, reaching out to Jason, who had eagerly agreed to provide technical support.
An expert team, armed with the most advanced instruments, had been dispatched to Godo City.
Xiaofeng welcomed the specialists and swiftly arranged quarters for them. They wasted no time assembling the equipment and machinery they required.
Elsewhere, Brada led over two hundred soldiers in unloading the weapons. When opening a crate filled with rifles, he was stunned—inside were models he had never seen before, cutting-edge rifles in quantities sufficient to arm an entire division, far exceeding their thousand-strong force. After conferring with Xiaofeng, they resolved to arm their troops immediately.
Once all weaponry was unloaded, the colossal transports lifted off one by one. Before departing, the transport commander explained that this delivery was but the first of several; subsequent shipments would consist predominantly of heavy equipment.
As the helicopter squadron retreated, fighter jets provided an escort.
Standing beside Xiaofeng, Brada watched the departure of the massive transports and remarked, "Xiaofeng, your prowess is astounding. These are all state-of-the-art weapons—some I've never even laid eyes on. Just imagine the value of this arsenal."
Casually inspecting a rifle, Xiaofeng replied, "These rifles were originally intended for the Alliance army. But after the Brohm and Sam companies fell out, these arms were stored away—and now, they're ours."
Brada nodded approvingly, "Excellent. Now, even if a full Alliance division assaults us, I'm confident we can stand our ground. Hell, even a corps wouldn't faze us."
"Enough boasting. Even a division would be formidable enough. Our priority now is to consolidate our control—our position remains fragile. We must strengthen ourselves first."
"I understand completely. With our mercenary brothers behind us, these troops won't disperse. Give us a week's training, and I'm certain we'll become a powerful force."
Xiaofeng's expression darkened slightly. "I hope you're right… but I remain wary of when the Alliance army might strike."
