Kai froze.

Malvexa said nothing.

She looked at Kai. "You know what I'd say. But she's right."

They both draped a wing over him.

Kai whispered, "Are we really doing this?"

Elyssaria: "Yes."

Malvexa: "Try not to scream."

Kai swallowed hard.

"…from fear, or excitement?"

They said nothing.

The lights dimmed.
