At my bonding ceremony with my destined mate, my adoptive brother suddenly lunged, plunging a knife into my father, the Alpha of our pack.
Blood gushed out. My father stared in disbelief at the child he’d raised.
I wanted to scream, but I was pinned hard to the ground.
"Watch closely. This is the price for choosing the wrong mate." My adoptive brother leaned in, sneering right by my ear.
My mate was swarmed by six warriors and collapsed, drenched in blood.
"Throw him out of the territory. Let him wander forever."
I was imprisoned, humiliated, forced to watch as my adoptive brother established his new order.
The friend I once trusted snuggled up to my adoptive brother. "Now you're the Alpha," she purred, "and I'll be your Luna."
My pack members were forced to submit; those who resisted were executed.
In my final moments, I prayed to the Moon Goddess, "Please, just give me one more chance… a chance to fix all of this…"
After a searing pain, I snapped my eyes open.
"You're so pale. Are you that nervous about the ceremony in three days?" My mother’s voice was laced with worry as she looked at me.
I was back. Back to three days before that bloody ceremony.

"What did you just say?" Kaelan’s eyes widened, staring at me in disbelief.


We were standing at the highest point of our pack's territory, beneath a canopy of brilliant stars, when I finally told him everything—the tragedy of my past life, my death, the Moon Goddess's gift, and how I’d been reborn to change it all.


"So… I died?" he asked, his voice strained as he struggled to digest the information. "Victor killed your father, banished me, and then you…"


"Yes," I squeezed his hand. "I watched it all happen, powerless to stop any of it, and in the end, I died in captivity. But the Moon Goddess gave me a second chance."


He was silent for a long, tense moment, then asked, "Do you have any proof that what you're saying is true?"
