"You sure you wanna go through with this?" Kaelan asked, his voice low and firm.
I nodded. "It's time. We've got enough proof. Tonight, in front of all the pack elders, we gotta lay it all bare."
Tonight's the night before the ceremony. As per tradition, all the pack elders would be gathering in the Great Hall for final preparation and blessings for tomorrow's bonding ceremony and the Alpha succession rites. This is Victor's last shot.
Mom knocked and came in. "Are you ready? The Elders have all arrived." She looked worried sick. "Your dad just told me Victor asked for a private word with him."
I was instantly on guard. "Where?"
"His private study."
Kaelan and I locked eyes, instantly knowing what the other was thinking. This was no coincidence.
"Mom, please, can you go to the Elders' council? Tell them we'll be right there. Then, find a way to buy us some time. Kaelan and I really need to get to Dad, now."
