I’ll Answer for My Dad

"How could it be the CEO?!" Faith couldn't believe her eyes. She was so shocked, she didn't even notice the police arriving.

"It's okay, the police are here. You're safe now," Rachel comforted her, gently patting Faith's shoulder.

But Faith was still frozen, shaking all over as she stared in disbelief.

The man in front of them had the kind of figure and vibe that top male models would die for.

His sharp, handsome face carried a cold, untouchable aura, and the elegance he had made him look like royalty.

He was none other than Kellan, CEO of the Elliott Family Group.

"Take that disgusting thing away," he said, sneering at the police officers who had just arrived. His voice was magnetic, cold, and full of authority.

It was like a sword had slashed through the air. The officers almost kneeled from the pressure.

Who would dare mess with Young Master Elliott? They were 100% sure this guy was gonna face serious punishment.

"We'll take him right away and make sure he never harms anyone again," the officer said, nodding respectfully.

They tossed the bruised-up middle-aged man into the police car.

Then the officers came back over to Kellan, bowing again. "If there's nothing else, we'll be on our way."

Kellan gave a slight nod, and only then did the police dare to leave.

"Thank you, CEO!" Faith bowed deeply. If Rachel hadn't been holding her up, she probably would've dropped to her knees.

She still couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Get in the car," Kellan said coldly, not showing the slightest hint of warmth.

His deep, bottomless eyes swept over Rachel before he opened the door and slid into the car with effortless grace.

Kellan's flawless face held a hint of irritation. That woman hadn't even looked at him since he came out of the woods.

Was she seriously planning to cut ties with him that fast?

Rachel couldn't even look him in the eyes.

She kept remembering how he had carried her like a princess into the car. Her heart was pounding out of control.

No man had ever held her like that before. And in his strong arms... she had actually felt safe.

Rachel helped Faith into the back seat where Kellan was sitting. Faith didn't dare get too close and curled up in the corner by the door.

Rachel also got in.

Her bright, clear eyes glowed under the soft car light, like stars flickering in the night sky.

Through the rearview mirror, she looked at the man in the back seat and said softly, "Let's drop Faith off first. She's not in a good state, and it's not safe to try getting a ride out here." Her voice was gentle, like mountain spring water, refreshing and calm.

Kellan didn't reply. He just gave a quiet nod.

He leaned back lazily in his seat, long legs crossed naturally.

In the dim light, he gave off a cold and dominating energy, sharp like a blade. His features were so flawless it felt unreal, like he was sculpted by a master.

And his deep, black eyes glowed with an icy sharpness, like an eagle in the dark.

His whole vibe screamed don't get too close.

The silence in the car was intense.

There was this pressure in the air that made everyone hold their breath.

Why was Rachel with the CEO?

The CEO was always super busy. Why would he care about a small-time employee like her?

"Why… why did the CEO come to save me?" Faith finally asked. She couldn't keep the question in anymore.

"I called him," Rachel answered honestly. "I waited for you downstairs for so long and couldn't find you. I didn't know who else to ask… so I asked him."

Kellan's eyes twitched. His face turned even darker.

She didn't know who else to call, so she had no choice but to call me? Was that supposed to be some kind of compliment?

So that's what happened. But now Faith was dying to know, how did Rachel even know the CEO in the first place?

She was too scared to ask, though, not with him right there.

"Thank you. Really. If you hadn't come tonight, I…" Faith looked at Rachel with so much gratitude.

She didn't even want to imagine what might've happened if they hadn't shown up in time.

She could've lost everything, her safety, her dignity, maybe even her life.

"Thank you, CEO," Faith said sincerely.

Kellan kept his eyes closed and didn't answer. The car was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Then finally, a soft voice broke the silence.

"No need to thank him. I'll answer for my dad," Cora said, her little chubby cheeks turning pink.

Her bright eyes sparkled like stars, and her voice was so sweet it melted the tension in the car.

BOOM.

Faith froze.

She had to be hearing things. She was still traumatized from earlier. There was no way she heard that right.

Dad?!

The CEO had a child?!

And a woman?!

And… Rachel?!

Impossible!!

The CEO was super cold, never got close to any woman, and had never even been in a single scandal!

"What did you call me?" Kellan opened his eyes and asked casually. His voice was totally calm, but it still gave off this dangerous sexy vibe.

Rachel was stunned. Her heart skipped a beat, and her whole face turned red, even the back of her ears.

She clearly heard Cora call him "dad" again in her soft, childish voice.

Strangely, Kellan didn't seem mad at all.

His well-shaped, sexy lips looked like they were holding back a smile.

This little girl really had guts, not scared of him even a little. If it had been anyone else, they probably would've peed their pants already.

Faith was literally shaking in shock. She gripped the car window handrail tightly, and her legs were so weak she nearly collapsed.

She heard Cora call him "dad"… and Rachel was her mom. Did that mean Rachel and the CEO…

She didn't dare think any further. That just couldn't be real.

"It's not… it's not like that..." Rachel bit her lip and tried to explain awkwardly. "Cora's never had a dad since she was born. She just really wants a father, so..."

As she said it, her heart felt heavy.

With his status and family background, he was way out of reach.

Even the police bowed to him with so much respect. How could someone like that ever be Cora's father?

And then she suddenly remembered, he peeked at her while she was changing yesterday...

No. He couldn't be. He shouldn't be Cora's dad.

But Kellan actually looked interested. His gaze slowly scanned over Cora from head to toe.

Her delicate brows, straight little nose, those long lashes. Even the way she acted… there was something familiar about it.

Normally, he didn't like kids. He thought they were annoying.

But with Cora, it was different. He didn't dislike her at all, tn fact, he kind of liked her. It felt like… fate?

Could this really be the result of that night with this woman?

No way… Right?

Still, it might not hurt to do a paternity test, just in case.

After they dropped Faith off at her place, only Rachel and Kellan were left in the car.

"Thank you so much for today," Rachel said sincerely.

Especially for protecting her and staying with her and Cora in the car, Rachel really felt grateful. A little warm inside, even.

Then Kellan remembered something, and his dark eyes got a little colder.

"Why didn't you return the clothes today?"

He raised an eyebrow. His voice was lazy, but cold. And there was a hint of something like annoyance in it.

"Um… I was really busy and just forgot..." Rachel froze like someone had just pressed a pressure point.

Her whole body stiffened. Was he mad?

"Did you forget," Kellan said slowly, raising an eyebrow, "or did you just not want to return it?"

He leaned back with this super casual but noble posture, like he didn't really care. But the pressure from him felt huge.

He looked like a calm, elegant cheetah, chilling there like he was half-asleep, but underneath that chill vibe, you could feel the danger.

Rachel stared at him and suddenly thought...

Wow, this guy's really stingy.

Just for some clothes?

Her good impression of him totally vanished on the spot.
