Chapter 8:Sinking His Ships

"You mean the low-key? Sarah, who left New York City five years ago, is now the CEO of Ethic Textiles, both here in New York and in England?" Claudia's mother asked her while taking a sip of the orange juice she was holding.

After thinking of many ways to get rid of Sarah and not getting any, Claudia decided to pay a surprise visit to her mother, whom she knew was the only person who could help her in situations like this one.

Right from the beginning, her mother has always been the one giving her helpful advice, especially on how to play the good wife before Xavier in order to lavish his wealth without him complaining about it; after all, that's the main reason why she has been with him, because of his wealth.

"Yes, Mum, and the worst part of the whole story is that Xavier isn't even doing anything to get rid of her," she said to her mother, who nodded in reply.

"But why would you want Xavier to get rid of her?" Her mother asked her.

"Come on, Mom, don't tell me you don't have a clue; why do you think that she came back to New York City if not for revenge?" Claudia asked her mother.

"How are you sure of that? If you ask me, I will tell you that the reason she came back is to take over her father's company; if she came back for revenge, surely she would have already attacked you guys after all; it's been over a week since she returned," her mother said to her.

"What if she's waiting for the right time to strike? We both know that she won't attack me directly because it would be hard for her to find anything against me; instead, she will go for Xavier because there are many things out there she can use against him, and if eventually she succeeds, I hope you know what that means for us. Everything we had worked on will go to waste," Claudia said to her mother.

"I understand perfectly what you are saying; I'm only worried that your insinuations might not be true, and you might end up getting yourself into trouble," her mother said to her.

"Come on, Mum, I know what I'm talking about; it was written all over her face; even a blind person could have seen it; believe me, Mum, she's just waiting for the right time to strike," Claudia said to her, and she sighed heavily.

"Well, if you are very sure of what you are saying, then what is preventing you from doing what you are supposed to do? Don't tell me that you are going to wait for her to attack first before reacting," her mother said to her.

"Don't worry, Mum, we are going to strike first, and at a time she didn't even expect.

It's been a week since Sarah traveled back to New York City and took over the company before returning to England, and now that she's the CEO of Ethic Textiles in both branches, that means that she will sometimes be in New York City and sometimes in England, and that will also give her the opportunity to take care of the things she wants to take care of in New York City whenever she goes there.

Meanwhile, she had just finished meeting with her board members and was heading towards her office when her secretary called to her attention.

"Yes, Nora, how can I help you?" She asked her.

"Actually, it's about the reports you asked me to work on; I'm done with them," the secretary said to her.

"Ok, bring them to my office," she said to her before walking to her office. With that, her secretary took the files and followed her from behind. Once they entered the office, the secretary quickly dropped the files on her table before walking out.

Sitting down on her chair, Sarah sighed heavily. The meeting had lasted for almost two hours; she had to brief things and put an end to it before she went out of her mind. Being the CEO, this is one of the things she was subjected to. In cases like this one, she didn't have any choice; a meeting with the board members of the company wasn't an option; it's an obligation she has to fulfill, whether she likes it or not.

As she was sitting on the table, she remembered Justin, her son. She had gone to his school to see him before returning to England. She had stayed in her car and watched him coming out of Xavier's car and entering the school premises. She had wanted to come out of her car and run towards him and hug him tightly, and if possible, take him to England with her, but she withheld herself. Justin didn't know who she was, and she would only be creating a scene. She had to wait for the right time before presenting herself to him, and that would be after taking care of Xavier and Claudia.

As these thoughts were running through her mind, her phone started ringing, jolting her back to reality. Without hesitating, she brought out her phone from her bag and checked the caller ID before picking it up.

"Hey Max How are you?" She asked him over the phone.

"I'm doing good, Sarah; what about you?" he asked her through the phone.

"I'm good too. I hope you have good news for me because that's the only thing I want to hear right now," she said to the caller.

"Actually, I heard from a reliable source that two ships containing Mr. Xavier's goods will arrive in New York this evening; this might be your chance," he said to her.

"Actually, that's good news; sink the two boats; I don't want anyone to reach New York City," she said to him.

"As you wish," the caller said to her before hanging up.

"This is going to be interesting," she said to herself with a

smirk after the call was hung up.
