Chapter 7: Bad Wife

Since Xavier saw Sarah at the auction, he hadn't been himself; once he saw her, the same feeling he has been fighting against for the past five years came back haunting him again, that feeling of guilt and regret.

A month after sending Sarah away without her baby and bringing Claudia back, all his father's properties and companies were restored to him, but then there was this hole in his heart that couldn't be closed, despite Claudia's presence, his heart still craved for Sarah, the love, support and affection showered to him by Sarah was something he couldn't get from Claudia, she didn't have the time to take care of his son talk less of showering him with love and affection, he had to employ a nanny to take care of the baby, Claudia on the other hand was engrossed in lavishing his money anyhow, buying things which were necessary and unnecessary to her, her only concern was living the life of the wife of a billionaire and showing off before her friends, even Sarah who was from a rich background had a balance view on spending money.

After Sarah's departure, he tried looking for her, but she was nowhere to be found. After looking for her for a little while, he gave up, knowing that it was of no use finding her; there's no way he was ever going to win her back, not after admitting to her that he never loved her and that the act of love, the marriage, and everything they had shared together were all fake, and as if that wasn't enough, he also confiscated her baby. No human being will ever forgive him for that; all he had to do was leave with the guilt throughout his whole life.

"Seriously, Claudia, do I look for someone with whom something is wrong?" Xavier asked Claudia with a frustrated tone while walking inside the house.

They were just returning from the auction, and since Xavier saw Sarah, Claudia had noticed how his mood changed immediately, but what she didn't know was what the look on his face meant, whether it was that of regret or anger, and that is what she has been trying to find out, but Xavier has been snubbing her since all this time.

"Yes, of course. If nothing was wrong with you, why did your mood change swiftly, or is it because of her?" She asked Xavier while standing on his way.

"I don't know what you are talking about," Xavier said to her in a cold tone.

"Really? Or are you afraid that she might try to get back at you?" She asked Xavier once again.

"What makes you think that she's going to try to get back at us?" Xavier asked her with an inquisitive look.

"Come on, Xavier, stop playing the unaffected with me; why do you think that she came back, and why did she show up at the auction?" Claudia asked Xavier.

"How am I supposed to know that?" Xavier asked Claudia, and immediately she shot him an angry glare.

"We both know that she came back for revenge; if she showed up at that auction and bought that jewelry for twenty million dollars, it's just to show us how strong she has become, and I'm very sure that she's already planning how to get back at us, and who knows, maybe she has already planned it and she's patiently waiting for the best time to strike," she said to Xavier, who seemed unconcerned by her statements.

"So what do you suggest we do?" Xavier asked her with an inquisitive look.

"Let's get rid of her before she gets rid of us." Claudia said this to Xavier, and immediately he scoffed angrily at her.

"I bet you haven't taken a look at her judicial records because if you had, you wouldn't be talking about getting rid of her the way you are saying it, or do you think that it's going to be easy to do her any harm with where she has gotten?" Xavier asked Claudia.

"Wait just a minute; don't tell me that you are now afraid of her," Claudia said to Xavier.

"One, I'm not afraid of her, and two, I'm not going to do anything that is going to tarnish my reputation; with the way you are talking, it's as if you are tired of this luxurious life you are living." Xavier asked Claudia, but she remained silent while looking at him.

"I guess the answer is no, so you better stop advising me to do things that might ruin me and might end up backfiring at me," he said to her before brushing past her and walking into the house.

Once he got into the sitting room, he met Justin, the son he had with Sarah, watching television.

Looking at him, he couldn't help but smile at himself. Even though he knew that he couldn't get Sarah back, at least their son was around, and one of the ways he could spare himself from the guilt of what he did to Sarah was by making sure that Justin is always happy and also grows up to be a good person.

Once Claudia entered the sitting room and saw how Xavier was looking at his son, she hissed angrily and started heading towards the steps.

"Good evening, Mum," Justin greeted her immediately she walked past him, and with that, she stopped, turned around, and glared at him angrily.

"Jeez,I thought I had told you not to address me as your mother; your mother abandoned you," she said to him angrily.

"You know that's not true," Xavier said to her.

"Whatever," she said to him in reply before walking towards the steps.

"Don't listen to her; your mother never abandoned you," Xavier said to Justin before placing his hand on his shoulder.

"But where is she? I want to see her," Justin said to Xavier, who sighed heavily before sitting down beside him on the couch.

"Don't worry; I will take you to her soon, I promise," Xavier said to him before caressing his hair.
