"Come on, Dad, when are we getting to the place? We have been in the car for almost an hour," Sarah said to her uncle, but he remained silent while manipulating his phone.
"Dad," Sarah called out to him once again, and immediately he sighed heavily before turning his gaze towards her.
"Young lady, have a little patience; we will be there soon, and we haven't been driving for over an hour; it's just thirty minutes," Richard said to Sarah before returning his gaze towards his phone.
"Dad, I'm not a young lady; I'm twenty-eight for crying out loud," Sarah said to Richard, and once again he lowered his phone and looked at her.
"Even at a hundred, you are still a young lady before me, so please allow me to enjoy the ride," Richard said to Sarah, who scoffed at him before bringing out her phone from her handbag and manipulating.
"By the way, did Mr. Charles agreed to do business with you?" Richard asked Sarah, who was still busy manipulating her phone.
"No," she replied with her gaze still fixed on her phone.
"But why?" He asked her.
"The answer is very simple: I rejected his proposal, and he rejected mine," Sarah said to her uncle before stealing a glance at him.
"But why would he do such a thing? Is he that desperate?" Richard asked Sarah while raising his hand in frustration.
"Well, I won't call that being desperate; he's only trying to get what he wants with what he has, and believe me, this isn't my first time encountering people like him, and unlike him, I'm not desperate to do business with him; I can do without it," Sarah said to her uncle before returning his gaze towards her phone.
"You are right, you can do without it, but the company needs it, especially the one in New York here, but don't worry, I will see what I can do about it," Richard said to Sarah, who faked a smile at him before returning her gaze to her phone.
After some minutes of driving, the driver stopped in front of the hotel where the event was going to take place, but Sarah, whose attention was still on her phone, didn't even notice that the car had already stopped. After adjusting his tie while looking at the central mirror, Richard snatched Sarah's phone away from her before getting out of the car.
"Dad," Sarah called out to her uncle while trying to take her phone back, but he had already gotten down. Looking outside, Sarah noticed that the car had already stopped. That was when it dawned on her that they had already arrived at the place where the event was going to take place. Without hesitating, she quickly looked at her face through the central window in order to see if her make-up was still good. When she noticed that the makeup was still good, she got down from the car and joined Richard, who was waiting for her beside the car. Once she approached him, she stretched out her hand towards him, and immediately he gave her back her phone.
"You always claim that you are no longer a child, but you always act like one," Richard said to her after handing her the phone.
"Whatever, dad, let's just get going," Sarah said to her uncle, who smiled at her childishness before holding her hand and walking towards the hotel. Once they came in, Richard approached the receptionist and asked him where the event was taking place. With that, he started giving Richard directions while stealing glances at Sarah, who pretended as if she didn't notice him.
When Sarah couldn't take it anymore, she raised her head and looked at him while feigning to be smiling.
"Do you want to tell me something?" Sarah asked him.
"No, of course, ma'am," the receptionist stammered.
"Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything you want; I won't bite. Even if 'you like me, just go on and tell me," Sarah said to him while ignoring her uncle, who was motioning for her to leave the poor receptionist alone.
"Of course not ma'am, I didn't have such thoughts in my mind," the receptionist said to her in reply, while avoiding her gaze.
"If that's the case, then stop stripping me naked with those eyes of yours and concentrate on your work; if you did this in my company, I would have already fired you," Sarah said to him while maintaining a smiling face. Richard, who couldn't allow Sarah to continue torturing the poor receptionist, held her hand and started dragging her towards the elevator. Meanwhile, Sarah, despite being dragged by Richard, turned her gaze towards the receptionist and used two of her fingers to point at her eyes before pointing it at the receptionist, meaning "I'm watching you."
"Was it necessary for you to scare the poor receptionist in such a way?" Richard asked Sarah once they got into the elevator.
"Yes, it was necessary; I didn't like the way he was looking at me. If I catch any of my receptionists looking at a client in such a manner, I won't hesitate before firing them," Sarah said to Richard, who shook his head in disbelief.
"Well, I won't tell you how to do your work; you are already good at it. I will only advise you not to be too harsh with your employees; that's one of the criteria of a good leader," Richard said to her.
"I have heard Mr. Good leader," Sarah said to him with a frown.
"Young lady, it's not only about hearing; you better put it into practice," Richard said to Sarah, and at the same time, the elevator opened and Richard started walking out.
"Dad!!" Stop calling me a young lady," Sarah said to him while following him from behind.
Once they arrived at the front door of the party room, the two doorkeepers greeted them politely before opening the door for them to get in.
Once they got in, the whole hall became quiet immediately as everyone kept on staring at Sarah in awe. It was at the same moment that Richard noticed how sexy and revealing Sarah's gown was.
Sighing heavily, he leaned towards her a little bit and whispered to her, "Tell me you didn't wear this gown on purpose.
"Yes, I did; I'm here to traumatize my foes," Sarah said to Richard with a wicked smirk.
"Ooh, my goodness," Richard muttered inwardly.
