With Shiro and Kami both eavesdropping on the situation at hand, they knew they had to stop this. Shiro's hunch was correct, but now they had to put it to the test. Was the voice in there really the leader? The creator of the Nullum? The one who had tormented his friends with their own malicious creation?
"We can't rush in. Remember, we have what they want." Kami spoke, looking at Shiro before pointing at the girl on his back. Shiro thought before noticing she still remained asleep. Come to think of it, they never even tried to wake her up. They just abducted her and left.
"You're right. But if we never stop this, it'll never end, right??" Shiro spoke, feeling a sense of anger.
"If we rush in, we won't be able to analyze what we're even going up against. We just need to ha-"
"I KNEW I COULD HEAR VOICES FROM SOMEHWERE." A voice shouted from the window, the peering scarlet eyes staring at both Shiro and Kami, who both gazed back in complete shock. How could they have climbed directly up to the spire's window? But Kami immediately reacted by grabbing Shiro, tossing him into the air as he created an explosion, causing the entire spire to collapse on itself, the chunks of rocks falling and killing the Nullum.
"KAMI!" Shiro shouted out with immense anger, unsheathing his sword as he plunged back into the castle's spire, flipping as he held his blade. Holding his position strong, his vision slowly cleared from the amount of debris that was left, only seeing the person in the distance...and what seemed to be a large machine. That was probably where the Nullum were being produced. That was one thing Shiro could infer. There's no way that many of them could exist at once without something being able to automate such a process.
"SO, YOU'RE THE ONE THAT WAS ATTACKED...ALL THOSE DAYS AGO! After witnessing your head go SPLAT, I'm surprised you're even alive." The voice spoke before their cloak had suddenly come flying off, revealing a body beyond humanity itself..Spiky, stitched, deformed, no word could probably describe this body. Shiro looked in disgust, paying close attention to the person, who was now walking. The fight could occur at any time.
"YOU KNOW, YOU'VE BEEN MESSING UP MY PLANS ALOT. I'M GLAD I DISCARDED OF WHOEVER THAT PERSON WAS. HE WAS A NUISANCE ANYWAYS!!! ICOULD TELL HE WAS THE ONE THAT KILLED MIREVYN!! All of the energy that I felt...It was from him...your energy..it's WEAK!!" They shouted before launching a blast directly towards Shiro's face that soared with a pulsating force. He felt an overwhelming struggle as the orb started to push him against the nearly destroyed wall. With a slight chuckle, the figure pushed even further, causing Shiro's body to start tearing apart. His gritting of his teeth and his endurance wasn't going to save him in a battle like this. .But now, he was even closer to the wall. He was about to be crushed...with the girl. But there was one thing he could try. A constant shaking of his head. With a spark of hope showered in the darkness of reality, there was a glow. red, to purple. Right on his head. As his eyes widened, the talisman shone a bright rainbow. Shiro felt it flapping against his face as he GRABBED THE LARGE BLAST WITH HIS OWN TWO HANDS! With his unwavering determination, he pushed it further, gritting his teeth as he said these words,
"I...don't care if my energy is weak...I don't care about being...compared to somebody strong...But...what I do care about...IS STOPPING YOU RIGHT NOW!!" He shouted, and with one final push, knowing everything that was at stake, he closed his eyes and hoped for the best. With his ounces of strength, his heart thumped, taking a powerful step forward, allowing him to push the orb into the ground.
"YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY DO THAT!! I WON'T ALLOW YOU!! NULLUUUMMMMM!!!" They shouted before the machine started pumping, mass producing Nullum with what seemed to be a glowing fluid. Shiro saw this, laughing as the entire ground beneath them completely crumbled. But Shiro didn't care if he fell. He watched the figure fall in fear as the Nullum's machine started to spark with lightning.
"Plans foiled." Shiro smirked as he watched the figure fall to the ground. With a flash of lightning, the machine had completely exploded, causing the castle to implode. Dust had covered Deeper Averune, but as the machine exploded, hundreds upon thousands of memories flew across the world of Averune, fighting back against the darkness. Shiro completed his goal. But there was still one thing left.
As he fell, the talisman glistened, creating a healing barrier for him, restoring any cuts he had from his body tearing. With his fall slowed, he came to a slow land. If there was one thing he needed to do, it was to win. As he kneeled, he unwrapped the robes that kept the girl attached to his back, keeping her in a safe area. Now that he got a proper look at her, she really was just a child. He knew from that point onwards, there was nothing forgivable. He quickly ran, seeing a hole that seemed to go beneath the castle itself.
"Maybe a dungeon area..?" Shiro looked before quickly jumping in. He didn't need a blade for this. With only himself, he walked around the underground. The lights flickered and it got cold easily, but Shiro wasn't concerned. Even in the midst of darkness, he could still see his enemy, crawling on the ground. With the eyes of malice and the fists of vengeance, he wasn't going to stop.
"STOP! STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!!" The figure shouted with fear before Shiro quickly picked them up by the throat, clenching onto it tightly as he slammed them into the wall.
"You don't even know how many people you hurt. How many you DESTROYED, due to your GREED!!" Shiro shouted angrily before punching the figure in the face, pushing them even closer now.
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY I DID IT!! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!! OF COURSE YOU DON'T, YOU WEAKLING! YOU NEVER KNEW HOW IT FELT!! YOU'LL..." The figure spoke as they sighed. Shiro slightly loosened his grip on their neck, only enough to allow them to talk regularly.
"You don't understand how it feels to have nobody remember you. The whole world forgot who I was, and they deserved to. They never got to see my greatness. Who I was. So I left, and made Deeper Averune. For YEARS, I'VE BEEN ABDUCTING CHILDREN DUE TO THEIR STRONG IMAGINATIVE PROWESS! THEY'RE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR! AND I WAS ABOUT TO GET THAT FROM THIS SPECIFIC CHILD!! BUT OF COURSE, YOU HAD TO GO AND DESTROY EVERYTHING!" The figure shouted.
"What's your name?"
That simple question, asked by many and answered by many, but one. Despite all of their acts of tyranny, they never had a name to begin with.
"..."
"Meaninglessly wiping peoples memories out of jealousy that you lost your own." Shiro spoke, tossing them into the wall. The only thing he could feel right now, was disgust. With a flash of his hand, he sparked the figure in their deformed jaw before slamming his leg into their torso. With this disgust, an overwhelming feeling fueled his soul. The feeling of anger. He grabbed the figure's body, wincing his eyes as he stared at the stitches that held the body together.
"I'VE FOUND IT!" Shiro shouted as he clutched onto each thread, tearing them all apart as blood sprouted from each unweaving.
"Tell me...your name....." The figure weakly spoke as blood erupted from their mouth. Shiro looked down at him before dropping the threads.
In his raw fleeting moments of life, all he could see, was him. The person he never knew, yet one that he would remember...for the rest of his afterlife. With the last words that he'd hear, he'd cherish them, as his last memory.
"My name is Shiro Celia. The past that you've taken from people will haunt you. If it doesn't, I WILL." He spoke quietly, watching the figure fall to the ground, bleeding out. With the figure now dead and the machine destroyed, there was one thing to do - Leave Deeper Averune. So with that, he quickly ran back, still seeing the unconscious girl, picking her up as he sprinted down the underground.
"Is this how fate works? Some are destined to be forgotten in history...and others are forced to forget. It's a cycle of memories, that seems to never end. It hurts." Shiro thought to himself before he saw a light, peeking in the distance. With his staggering, he started running towards the exit, seeing a silhouette standing in the distance.
"You really believed I'd die that easily to an explosion, Shiro?" The voice...It was him. Shiro's eyes widened, smiling.
"Kami..!! But- I saw you explode..."
"You saw the explosion, not ME exploding. There's a difference between the two, y'know." Kami laughed, rubbing Shiro's messy head. "Either way, I had a fight of my own. I chose to go after the servant, and she told me some important things..."
"Oh, yeah? Like what?"
"The guy's name that you fought. His name was once Nehris. I remember his name in scriptures mostly for his crazy ideas, which I guess lead to this. But it's time for this all to end. You ready?" Kami looked at Shiro, who smirked, tugging at his collar. Kami chuckled to himself, grabbing it as he soared into the sky, lifting his hand into the air.
"Collapse."
"Burn, false world."
"Echoes of stolen memories, return."
"Let every shadow be consumed."
"Deeper Averune; I reject your truth."
With his hand's immense glow, a laser was fired directly into the sky, piercing through the barriers of Deeper Averune, the memories flying free. The sky had grown beyond it's dark embrace, becoming a bright rainbow. Both Shiro and Kami looked at the sky in complete awe, witnessing the true power of the deity born from flesh and Averune's last breath.
