When I exited the sorting room, a crowd of people were staring at me.
"What house- er- Dorm did you get sorted into?"
"I got Wizard."
"Sweet!"
The kid with glasses went next. He got Exorcist. Then the red head, who got sorcerer. Finally the talkative kid went.
"I got Wizard!" he exclaimed.
I felt relieved. At least I was being put in a dorm with someone I was familiar with. Even if he would talk my ear off eventually.
The others went through, getting sorted into saint and so on. When we finished, the professor told us to line up.
"Thats pretty much it for today's orientation. You are free to check in to your dorms." he paused. "Actually, I suggest you check in your dorms before you do anything else. Lunch will be served in half an hour. Are there any questions?"
For a few seconds, no one asked anything.
Then the talkative kid raised his hand. "Yes?" the professor asked.
"Uhm, I have two questions."
"Of course you do." the professor gestured for the talkative kid to continue.
"First. What is your name? You never introduced yourself."
We all chatted about that. I guess we all got so carried away with the wonders here at Runeg Skil that we never even got acquainted.
The professor smirked. "I am Professor Sphinx. With an 'I'. Not to be confused with Professor Sphynx, with a 'Y'. He's the bald one if anyone wants to know. Next question."
"Second. What deck do you run?"
Professor Sphinx's grin grew wider. "I run a Giza deck."
"Which one?" I found myself asking.
There were two "Giza" decks. One deck was focused on shutting down the spells a person could cast. In other words, it was an exorcist deck. The other "Giza" deck, helmed by [Giza, Guardian of the Tomb] didn't let a player cast anything from anywhere other than their hand. It shut down a lot of Wizard decks and decks built around the Embed ability.
"Care to guess?"
Without hesitation, I asked if I would get a reward if I got it right.
"Sure," he purred.
I didn't even need to think. "[Giza, Riddle Meister.]"
"Really?" he asked, cocking his head. A shiver ran up my spine. "What makes you think that?"
"Well, you seem to like testing our knowledge. That makes me think you play [Riddle Meister]."
The others looked at me like I was crazy.
"You understand the game better than most, child. I'll reward you with something of equal value after lunch."
