Scores of Villains walked out from the black vortex as Shigaraki stood there, two Nomus flanking him from either side.
One was the same Upper Tier Nomu who had appeared during the Jaku Incident to retrieve the Nomu that had chased Luke to the city. It was also the same Nomu that had been created to take on All Might and finish him.
The second Nomu had a light gray skin and leaner build compared to the former.
It also had an exposed brain with two eyeballs embedded in the frontal lobe. Its upper body was bare, with thick muscles squirming and slithering like hundreds of snakes under its skin. Under the waist, it was wearing torn pants, donning skull caps on its knees.
It was a Lower Tier Nomu.
However, lower-tier Nomu still meant it possessed augmented strength and at least two Quirks.
"There's some discrepancy in the intel," Kurogiri observed, eyes taking shape in the massive blackness behind Shigaraki and two Nomus. "The only Pro Heroes here are Erasure Head, Sand, and Thirteen. No sign of All Might."
Shigaraki scratched his neck, already bringing out blood.
There was a madness in his eyes. He wanted to get his hands on this Dr. Blessed who had attacked him as per his teacher, All For One.
However, they had been searching the entire country, hiring all the villains from the underground. But, till now, they hadn't even received a whiff of his whereabouts.
This all did nothing but fuel Shigaraki's madness even more.
"Let's kill a few children—" he said, gnashing his teeth. "All Might will appear eventually."
…
High on the platform, near the entrance, Aizawa sensed the bloodlust crawling up his spine.
"Get back!" he shouted, putting on his goggles. "This is real! They are Villains! Thirteen, protect the students! Sand—"
"— Don't tell me what to do," Sand said, rushing down. The best way to keep Luke safe here was to just kill the Villains before they could reach him, no?
Both Pro Heroes recognized the black creature from the Jaku Incident. They knew how bad the things stood, seeing not one, but two of these creatures right in front of them.
"Tch!" Aizawa tsked and jumped off the platform, blurring his way down as well.
Behind them, Thirteen directed the panicked students toward the entrance.
…
"Here come the Heroes!" one of the Villains shouted. "Get ready…"
Sand landed on the ground, letting out a breath. This place, all around him, was full of sandy terrain.
The Villain in front of him opened the holes in his fingers to shoot at him.
Instantly, the sand near the Villain's feet squirmed before lifting and becoming a scythe.
Sand's hand traced a massive arc, cutting the Villain's legs right above his knees, blood painting the ground red.
Silence.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" The Villain screamed.
"What are you doing?!" Erasure head shouted, appalled by the cruelty.
Sand didn't have time to explain himself. He eyed the Villains in the far back and instantly recognized the one from the Jaku Incident.
Those three, and the surrounding blackness, were the true threat to Luke here, Sand knew.
"Leave those four to me," Sand said, walking casually forward. Even the Villains stepped off from his path, giving him a wide berth.
"That's not…" Erasure Head tried to follow Sand, but Villains soon surrounded him.
Two long-range Villains were to fire at him when his eyes glowed behind the goggles, canceling their Quirks. Then, he threw the strip of alloy-reinforced cloth at them, wrapping them up. With one great jerk, he lifted their bodies and smashed them together, making them pass out.
"It's Erasure Head!" A Villain shouted over the bloody screams let out by the Villain whose legs Sand had chopped off. "He is canceling our Quirks!"
"Bet he can't cancel physical augments!" one Villain said, rushing at Erasure Head. He had four arms and a crystal-like substance covering his upper body.
"You are right," Erasure Head said, dodging the attack effortlessly while simultaneously punching the Villain and sending him flying. "But no Pro is a one-trick pony."
If Luke could see him fighting now, then he would have found an extreme familiarity between Sand and Aizawa's fighting style.
But, he was busy acting panicked among the students now.
On the other side, Sand walked out from the hoard of Villains surrounding Erasure Head and looked at the four in front of him.
There's no way Erasure Head is not canceling the teleporting Quirk right now, Sand analyzed. That means…
With a thought, dozens of silk-like strands of sand lifted around the four Villains.
This was already more than the 50-meter radius in which he could control sand.
However, by sacrificing his overall control, he could extend the range beyond 100 meters — a fact the Villains most probably didn't know.
The strands of sand shot inward from all directions before the Villains could even react.
Half a dozen plunged right into the blackness. The other half went for the man covered in hands. Over a dozen landed on both morphed creatures standing on either side.
However, despite being caught off guard, not one strand of sand managed to bring out blood.
The two exposed-brain creatures had surrounded the man between them, and the extremely sharp strands of sand had failed to penetrate their skin.
This?!
Sand's brows shot up.
Meanwhile, Shigaraki narrowed his eyes at the Hero. It was for him, he had to bring another Nomu, but, with no All Might here, it felt overkill now.
"Kill him," Shigaraki casually said, looking at the lower tier Nomu.
Growling, the light-skinned Nomu shot toward Sand, raising a dust storm. Then, with a massive bang, rope-like muscles shot out of its body, all lunging toward the Hero, trying to bind him up.
The sudden turn of events made Erasure Head, who had been keeping an eye on Sand and the teleporting Villain, blink.
Kurogiri instantly realized he could use his Quirk again.
…
Thirteen and the students were already running toward the entrance on the long platform.
Suddenly, a black vortex opened up in front of them and Kurogiri sprang out, taking a morphed, humanoid shape.
"There's no escape," Kurogiri said. "Nice to meet you all. We are the League of Villains. Sorry for coming here uninvited. But — you can't kill the Symbol of Peace with half-hearted preparations, can you?"
The students' faces paled.
Suddenly, Bakugo and Eijiro rushed at Kurogiri.
A massive blast occurred, blinding their vision, as they attacked the Villain.
"Did you really think we would just stand around?!" Eijiro scoffed, using his Hardening Quirk.
However, in the very next moment, strands of blackness pulsated as Kurogiri regained his shape. "That was close. I should be more careful. You are UA students, of course."
"Get back!" Thirteen screamed, opening the cap on her forefinger.
But, before she could use her Black Hole Quirk, Kurogiri raised his arms, a storm of blackness surrounding the students. "I will scatter you all into this facility! Wait for your death there!"
As the teleportation sphere began sucking the students in, Luke, who had been waiting for exactly this moment, rushed and grabbed one of them.
Yuga Aoyama's face had become white as he trembled with guilt.
In the next moment, Luke tightened his grip on Yuga's shoulder and jumped into the vortex.
