Reincarnation (2)

After eating, I have no idea what to do now.

It isn't safe for me to go out and explore, and even talking to someone might cause problems later.

Well, there are those erotic books on Lucian's table, but I'd rather not read them with such a beautiful girl in the same room.

Sigh

There's absolutely nothing to do.

"Master, are you bored?"

"Yeah."

"You can go out if you want to."

"I don't really want anyone else to know that I've lost my memories, Seren."

"Why not go to the library next to your room? It's part of your area, and no one except someone with your loyalty crest can enter without permission."

"I see, so my chambers include a library?"

"It's something Master's father added. He occasionally sends a maid to ask if they can place books, and you casually permit them to do so."

"Let's go there, then."

I head to the library with Seren.

"Master, there are so many books! I've never seen this many at once."

"You've never entered the library?"

"Master only permits me to enter the necessary rooms and the bathing chamber. Master also said to leave his room only when I need to use those facilities."

"So you only use three rooms, as I instructed?"

"No, Master. I only use two. When I cast the bathing spell on you, I do it for myself as well."

I know about bathing magic and loyalty crests from The Iris Saga.

"You can read?"

"Yes, Master. Want me to read a book for you?"

"No, just read anything that interests you. I'll pick something I want."

"Okay, Master."

I pick up a book that contains some information about this region.

I spend the whole time reading it.

It's not that great as it mostly covers cultural history.

Still, it's not completely useless. Cultural significance can offer clues about ancient relics and other important aspects.

It also includes a bit of information about the monsters and dungeons in this area.

I really need to start thinking of this world as real.

I also had lunch in the middle of my reading session.

"What book did you read, Seren?"

"I read about noble etiquette—how a noblewoman should act in public, in private, and in the chambers of her lord."

She didn't have to add the last part!!!

This is too much for me. I should just sleep for today and try to recover my memories.

"Let's sleep for the day."

"Yes, Master."

I remove all my clothes except for my underpants and climb onto the bed.

Suddenly, something soft hugs me.

I open my eyes and see Seren—completely naked—hugging me.

"What are you doing, Seren?"

"Master, you told me to sleep like this. You said that if I didn't, you might die."

I have no idea what she's talking about.

"Master, you didn't remove your underpants!"

Seren gets up and pulls them off.

"What are you doing?!"

"Master, I'm sorry, but I can't listen to you right now. You don't have your memories, and I must do this."

Seren lies back down next to me and hugs me again.

There's no way in hell I'm getting any sleep like this.

I should just use the item to recover Lucian's memories. I'm sure I'll get used to this once that happens.

"Seren, I might be in a little pain after using the reversal spell to get my memories back, so you don't need to call anyone from outside or anything like that. My body will return to normal once the spell finishes."

"Okay, Master."

I go to the reward inventory and use the item Lucian Valemont's Memory.

Item Lucian Valemont's Memory used

Ahhhhhhh! This pain is unbearable!"

The moment I use the item, a wave of excruciating pain rushes through my body and mind. I instinctively wrap my arms tightly around Seren.

And then, everything goes black.

[Next Day]

I open my eyes.

Seren is still sleeping.

I'm surprised by how tightly I'm hugging her. I remember doing it last night when I used the item, but still, it's kind of embarrassing.

Then I notice a little blood on my hand and immediately check Seren's back.

It seems I injured her with my nails last night and not lightly either.

I'll get her healed once she wakes up.

By now, I should have all of Lucian's memories.

I try to recall what Lucian did, and suddenly, a flood of memories begins to surface.

Everything feels like I did those things.

I remember my formal education at House Valemont, how I met Seren, and how I treated her.

I remember my relationship with the rest of my family, the deteriorating condition of House Valemont, and how my father arranged a marriage alliance with a Comital House.

I recall so much about myself, how I can't use magic, how I became a shut-in, and how my stepmother despises me.

I should take a bath and go meet my father.

I hurriedly bathe and get dressed. Now, I'm heading downstairs to meet him.

"Oh ho, look who finally decided to come out of his room."

The one taunting me is none other than my uncle, the one who hates me, always tries to steal what's mine, and wants to make his sister's children the heirs.

"Greetings to the esteemed Uncle. I hope you are doing fine."

"Learned some manners while being a shut-in, didn't you? But it doesn't change the fact that you carry the blood of your filthy mother. You're a disgrace to noble blood."

I don't respond and head straight to my father's chambers.

I'm one of the few allowed to enter without permission.

I ask a maid about his whereabouts.

"Master is in the library," she says.

I walk to the library to speak with him.

There are certain things I must accomplish within the month and I have to make sure I'm admitted into the newly incorporated Iris Academy within three months.
